Scriptorium - Stalwarts And Homages

Scriptorium Pens

Recommended Posts

Recent work from the shop includes a variety of homages as well as plenty of my most popular models. I've been firing up two kerosene heaters every day to keep the shop warm enough to work in, and doing some overtime work to try to produce more inventory models. My own fuel of choice for turning activities is the double-caffeine Death Wish Coffee. 😄

Here's an oldstyle Pelikan homage using vintage Parker Blue Lizard Celluloid, which only comes in a tube form. Beautiful material, mixed here with a blue tinted ink window and black ebonite.

This Hemingway homage features Tangerine and Black Ebonite.

The Balladeer in Mineral Sea Lava Explosion #3 is one of my most popular models and the number one material requested. Eugene Soto, who makes the gorgeous Lava Explosion blanks, often creates custom variations of this material for my clients who want a slightly different distribution of the colors.

Mineral Sea is also used here in a Chronicler, along with Black Ebonite section and finials.

The Zephyr, here in Ion Storm alumilite by Jonathon Brooks, is becoming more and more popular with my customers. The gently rounded cigar shape is well suited to the beautiful swirls in the materials that Jonathon makes.

Another striking Jonathon Brooks material, Ghost Koi, is found in this Exemplar.

Another very popular material is Fire Nebula Lava Explosion, here seen in a Zephyr.

This Chronicler uses Conway Stewart Bronze acrylic and Black Ebonite.

Deep Blue Swirl Lucite is found on this Aeterna.

This Aeterna is in SEM Limited Edition Vesuvius I Ebonite.

Another Limited Edition SEM Ebonite is this lovely Deep Sea on an Idyll.

Here's a clipless Inkling in Mocha Fudge acrylic.

This Idyll is in Orange Stone acrylic.

SEM LE Orange Water Ebonite makes a fascinating color choice for this Danitrio Hyotan "Mae West" homage. You never know exactly what a material will look like once it's turned down. Here, it left a cool spiral on the top of the cap.

Here's a Zephyr in Kismet Lava Lamp.

This Idyll, in Brooks' Arctic Koi alumilite, has an elongated barrel that is tapered to post, and features pattern matching, which was quite a challenge with this material!

Thanks for looking!

Some fantastic pens. The Conway Stewart bronze and deep blue swirl are beautiful materials and the mocha fudge material used to make the Inkling was a surprise.

You have a wonderful lineup of pens!

Renée, you always have such a good eye for picking gorgeous materials to make pens out of. :puddle:

I think my personal favorite of this batch is the Pelikan homage -- and I don't normally like the "lizard skin" look.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Speaking of homages....

Still have my handsome Churchill homage pen with the luscious #8 gold nib with Pendleton's BLS treatment...

and it's always full of ink...love writing with it, thank you.

Your pens are always beautiful, but you seem to have even more exceptional ebonites this time! Wonderful work!

Thank you! I love the SEM ebonites. I look forward to any new limited editions they'll put out this year.

Thanks! I'm not fond of lizard or snake skin either, but this gorgeous blue celluloid makes me forget it's a reptile.

Wow, that 'Mae West' is absolutely gorgeous. I'm tempted to ask if it's available........ ;)

This was a custom commission. I do have plenty of the Orange Water LE ebonite, though, so I can make more.

Oops! Just realized who I responded to! You got me on that one!

Another set of great pens. You continue to step up your game and raise the bar.

I can't believe no one else has commented on the faux Hemingway cap band. I mean, c'mon people, that is an awesome touch!

Continue to amaze...
