Anyone Tried Anything From Moo?

There's a business card website called Moo and they have some pretty nice looking lay-flat hardcover notebooks. They make it out to be luxurious paper but curious if anyone has used one before and what they think about them.

I might grab a couple for work anyway so if no one has used them, maybe I'll post a review in the near future.

They use "Munken Kristal" paper, which I never heard of; it appears to be a shade of white from a Polish paper mill, called ARTIC, which makes "uncoated" paper.

They look very nice, for sure.

If you mean this one it's nice that it's hardcover, but it's perfect bound. The pages are put together with adhesive, which to my mind makes it somewhat expensive for a hardbound book. Also note that the book is glued to the back cover, not the spine. This would help to keep the tension down on the notebook's binding, but ends up looking a lot like a D-ring folder.

If you are a somewhat adventurous sort you could make your own books (though I'd recommend softcover). I did a search and found several different methods that product a nice end product. I like this one as an example. Then take your savings and invest in that nice cover we all covet.

Thanks for the info! Definitely not anything I would have noticed. I ended up ordering one before I read your response so maybe I'll post some photos when it arrives and give a sample of how well the paper does with a fountain pen.

I use moo for custom postcards i used to send notes to sales prospects. I write with M800s with fine nibs and most iroshizuku ink and they perform very well. I found moo when I was in the hunt for FP friendly cards. (Thank you to Josh at pelicans perch for The tip). Never tried their notebooks but would assume equally friendly.

Quick update - the notebook isn't worth even posting a review. I wrote just my name on the first page using a Pilot Custom 74 (F) and Diamine Red Dragon ink. It immediately feathered quite a bit and bled through to the following page leaving some tiny marks. In short, I wouldn't recommend anyone get these notebooks for use with a fountain pen. Nowhere near the quality I've experienced with other brands such as Clairefontaine.
