Changing Out The Sack In A Edison Menlo

As I understand it, it's quite easy to change the small sack on the Menlo. What tool do I need to take out the cartridge. I go through the sacs on a regular basis. Thank You.

It's not actually a sack, but a diaphragm. You need a device used to open up Vacumatics. These come in two sizes, and I think the one for "regular" Vacumatics rather than the "maxi". I have one and made a feeble attempt at removing the filler but it's on these quite tight. Brian Gray of Edison said there wasn't any shellac or rosin used as a seal, just the friction and tight fit.

 

I'm not sure where you'd get a vacumatic wrench these days. Seems like several suppliers aren't carrying them any longer. The tool is about $25, though it could be more.

 

Edison had replaced the diaphragm in my Menlo twice. After the third time (after a couple years) I'm having the filling system replaced with the draw filler which uses components unaffected by inks. So something of an extra expense, but perhaps a better solution than replacing diaphragms?
