Also got myself a Waterman 52, finally, which seems well restored (nice lever - sac action) only for the cap to chip at the cap lip with zero undue force... Following a 54V with a broken barrel, fow hich I managed to get another one, only for the old cap to not engage with it... I'm thinking with that luck I should stay away from the very old pens... Now looking for not one but two caps: 52 and 54V!

Recently bought an Expert 3 and it is hands down one of the most interesting pens I have owned, it is just so French.

The design is quite "cluttered" which I see in their car designs and buildings (lived last 2 summers in France).

The nib is a bit funny looking, not graceful but like a cat who has a wide big nose as opposed to a cute little one.

The nib is a bit scratchy and stiff, I have held an ST Dupont and it to had a stiff nib, perhaps the french like stiff nibs.

The pen is completely functional, the cap clicks niceley when capped and clicks nicely when posting it.

When looking at the pen capped it has the most beautiful lines and I can see how the skewed cut on the cap-finneal just so beautifully completes the design. It is an early nineties design but very sixties so to speak.

I don't know who designed the pen but bravo is all I can say

The clip design is honestly why I have stayed away from Watermans, but it works with the design and I'm starting to like it.

Two vintage pens from Waterman. One, a JIF Waterman Cotele, sporting a steel flex nib - image and writing sample attached here. Another a Waterman C/F with a 14k gold nib. The first one writes wonderfully with a heavy but satisfying feedback on paper, while I think I need to get a little nib adjustment done with the other one to have it write better.

@bohemio666  Does the Waterman Cotele take a modern cartridge or converter?  I never know which models have that obsolete cartridge system that nothing can substitute for (as far as I know.)

Interesting that you should ask. To my delight, it does. I had to tweak things a little with the pen as far as ink delivery was concerned because the pen seemed to get leaky sometimes. I replaced the original squeeze converter with a modern push converter, and it seems to have largely tackled the problem.

I have a pair of identical Waterman Experts.
Why two?
Well, I lost one and bought a replacement before my wife found out [it was a gift from her]. Then of course, I found the first one.

A couple of Exceptions came back from nib swaps courtesy of Parker/Waterman France. Both had come with fine nibs which were swapped for medium and stub. Both write beautifully.

Anyone who thinks that PW have lost the skills to make perfect nibs, may not have experienced the quality of nibs coming out of Nantes.

So true. My Exception nibs are some of my favorite nibs, and are really great in how subtle they feel on the page.

I was recently given this Waterman desk pen and base and I really like it. It’s not huge, and the nib on the pen is very soft. I also have a 52, but no pictures.large.IMG_0534.jpeg.81be84d94993430e8813447cfc9c97f4.jpeglarge.IMG_0533.jpeg.0aaddb94c28f944b237ad4c5ce02290c.jpeglarge.IMG_0509.jpeg.36c6dae4f93aa19c1ac4d1d1f61bfe24.jpeg

What is the slim black pen resting on the blue stone? It reminds me of a Montblanc Slimline.

1925 Waterman Gothic, wet noodle.

Two 52's both wet noodles. Both are on the beater side. Work fine.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
