"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Having just purchased a gold Lamy OM nib and I couldn’t wait to put it on my Royal Red Studio. I filled it with Diamine Majestic Blue and am in awe of the improvement the nib makes to my handwriting. Majestic Blue really shows off the interesting effects of the OM nib.

Today I picked my Parker 51 Vacumatic from 1946 (dove-grey with Sterling silver cap and M-nib), filled with Herbin Vert Empire (the dark greyish green compliments the grey pen nicely...).

And the second one is my brand new Mabie Todd Blackbird (dating somewhere from the 1940s/1950s it seems) in beautiful marbled green and an oh so soft 14K flex nib, filled with Diamine British Racing Green. I received this one as a gift from a very close friend and yes, that woman knows me quite well...

Love them all.

Today I use a grey Pilot MR with Rohrer & Klingner Dokumentus waterproof ink for sketching and a turquoise Pilot MR with Iro Syo-Ro for journalling. Also making some notes with my Sailor Pro Gear and Iro Take-Sumi ink.

That's an especially effective ink photograph.

Until seeing it, I'd never felt any interest in Montblanc Lucky Orange.

Yet your image shows it to great positive effect.

Both Irish Green and Royal Blue look fine, too.

Thank you for posting it.

Thanks Tom. Montblancs are my favourite inks. Well behaved, great flow, nice shaders, and nice vibrant colors too.

My bottle of Lucky Orange is running low. I hope MB continues this LE ink for a while longer. Would be a good ink to add to their regular shoe bottle line up.

Today I am trying out a cheap PaperMate stick-type school pen (pink with purple clip and section (I know, right?!)) with a folded nib. I bought it last year but never used it due to my poor experience with a similar Pelikan stick (I didn't realize the PM was a folded when I ordered it) but I must say I'm pleasantly surprised - it's not horribly scratchy and it lays down a nice, solid line, as opposed to the problematic railroading on the Pelikan.

Extremely light, maybe half the weight of a JIF even, hard pressed to feel it laying on my palm; snap cap with no inner cap but it snaps on pretty firmly, only twists around if you force it so it might have a decent seal, though that may be due to non-use and the plastic may loosen in time; long enough to comfortably use un-posted. Not bad for $6.

Allowing that it has a hard fine nib, my Pelikan 100 from 1933-35 was still writing a somewhat pale scratchy line even after switching to Aurora Black. Removing the section* to leave the barrel standing up with ink still in it, I soaked the nib in section in pen flush for a minute or two then gave it another minute in water in the USC to remove dried ink from the feed. Some gentle spreading of the tines with thumbnails gave a clearer gap from the breather to where the very fine points met. Now, it writes like a smooth fine or extra-fine with a normal clear line. Much happier, so I used it quite a bit yesterday evening and will today. They are very nice little pens, the 100/100N. Every home should have one.

* I understand a nib unit (nib+feed+collar) unscrews from within the section. It showed no signs of doing so when I tried it, so rather than attack 80 year old hard rubber armed with assumptions, I dealt with the whole section as described.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
