Yard-O-Led Loose Cap Advice Sought

I dropped by Yard-o-Led Viceroy Grand and ever since the cap doesn't close as well or as securely as it did, however, I can't find any physical difference in the pen. There are not bumps or dents that I've seen. When I first got it the cap closed with a very satisfying click and was surprisingly secure. Since the fall it stay put fine enough but certainly not as well as before. What should I do? Would Yard-o-led be able to help? Would they charge for a repair? I'm bewildered by what went wrong!

No consolation exactly, but may be a last resort fix. if you roll a length of magic tape loosely around your finger (sticky side out) and insert it into the cap, pressing it out onto the metal as you go, you may cure the problem. This works with all manner of snap-fit caps but might be ultimately unsatisfying, and I sympathise.

Yard-o-Led used to offer a lifetime guarantee but they have been taken over a fair few times now so who knows?

The cap insert may have shifted further into the cap or cracked. They should be able to help you. They certainly helped me out with a nib problem through a friend in the USA who is a very popular member here.

I hear their service in UK is also top class.

I've never had to use the repair service but I did enquire at Yard-O-Led about spare parts. They are very easy to deal with, absolutely the best sort of company for an issue like the one you have. They offer a lifetime warranty and mean just that.

My older YoL was very well used when I got it and the cap is not quite as secure, spins more easily than on my Viceroy Grand however is it still positive and has the same characteristic click. I would say, as hari has, the cluctch in the cap has either moved or distorted somehow on your pen. This is a long way into the cap as it holds the small flare at the base of the section.

Try calling YoL directly or fire off an email before you send the pen back, they encourage this for international returns. They will close today until 2nd or 3rd January I'd imagine.

Something similar happened to my Yard-o-Led Grand. I sent it to the company and it came back with the issue nicely resolved. The cap just needed a new liner. The only cost was for shipping. Yard-o-Led service is outstanding, I strongly advise you to avail yourself of it.

Good to know the latest iteration of the company honors the warranties. Those are excellent pens.

Wanted to clarify, if you bought your pen used, The warranty is not valid. And you have to pay for a returning shipping. Not outrageous but not mother Teresa material.

Having said that, does anyone know a yard-o-Led repair specialist in the US?

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
