Montblanc Cherry Blossom ink

Recommended Posts

While browsing a Japanese website I read about Montblanc Cherryblossom ink. Has anyone tried it? What color is the ink? Sounds very nice :)

Edit: I read it is cherry color and has cherry scent (though cherry blossoms do not have strong scent). It was sold only at Montblanc Boutiques for 4300 yen or $36 per 30 mL bottle  Apparently it was very popular in Japan and I am only finding in auctions at even higher prices. I haven't found a writing sample yet. It's a bit hard to do search because Montblanc also means a kind of cake in Japan :D

I haven't heard of it before. I do love Sakura so I'd be interested to see what shade of pink it is.

Reminds me of my trip last year to Washington D.C. during the Cherry Blossom Festival. Just gorgeous.

Even the regular retail price in japan is crazy!

Here is a picture of the bottle if anyone's interested. It's an ok bottle, but I woudln't pay $36 for it.

タキさん、that sounds lovely, but it makes me wonder if it is worth that much money! I hope it's not that horrible red cherry candy smell I associate with lollipops and such. Maybe if it's a Japanese sakuranbo scent it will be nice...

Penache, have you tried J. Herbin's Bouquet D'Antan? This spring I discovered that it's the slightly faded/greyish pink of cherry blossoms after the rain. It's a lighter colour but in a wet writer, it's lovely :)

I finally found a writing sample. People are complaining about the price in Japan, too. One of the comment on the blog said that it was popular in Tokyo but not in other cities. The price for cartridges was 1050 yen ($9) for a box of 6.

Another one:

Probably they need to sell the ink at that price to pay for the big building in the middle of Ginza :D

If I find a box of cart by chance the next time I go back to Japan I might get it, but bottle seems too high.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering. A Japanese blog said it smells like the cosmetic counter in a department store

金のキウイさん、日本人の方ですか? :)

I second the recommendation of Bouquet D'Antan :)

The writing sample reminds me of Noodler's Ottoman Rose, which I already have. I probably won't be able to stand the smell either. I get a headache just walking through Cosmetic section of big department stores. Plus it is insanely expensive!

Bouquet D'Antan it is. :)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
