Sheaffer Nononsense

I have a Sheaffer NoNonsense ballpen and would like to make a fountain pen out of it.

1. Is this possible?

2. If yes, does anybody of you has an unused feed unit - best would be F or M?

3. Sellers at Amazon.co.jp want 80-100 USD for 5-10 Sheaffer cartridges, imagine. Anybody of you has some empty cartridges to give away?

2./3. Please tell me the cost, including sending to Japan. I could pay by PayPal. Thanks

You can convert the RB/BP into a fountain pen by removing the section, and the spring in the barrel, and inserting a nib unit. The nibs from the earlier NN pens, or a Connaisseur or Balance II nib will work. A standard Sheaffer converter will fit in the pen. Piston converters are about $10, the earlier squeeze converters are now going for $20-$25 because they are the only ones that fit into some pens.

I suggest every so often you do a search for "Sheaffer ink cartridges" on Ebay. There is usually a deal for 30 or more for under $30. Pen Hero sells them for a little over a dollar each in various forms. Here are a couple I found.

Old, needs water added after opening: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sheaffer-Ink-Cartridges-Black-and-Blue-25-Cartridges/322860867187?hash=item4b2c01de73:g:0GsAAOSwgYVZ09yY

New Slovenian production: https://www.ebay.com/itm/CLEARANCE-SHEAFFER-INK-CARTRIDGE-1-LOT-of-12-PACKS-NEW-BLACK-INK-22-00/302539583316?hash=item4670c3af54:g:eC4AAOSwXLdaFchV#shpCntId

Usually but not always the new ones come from China or Indian sellers. This one is in the US.

I got one of those 30 packs and have not finished it yet. I also get converters and replace the sacs. A number of the converters have gone bad, maybe 30% of what I have found in pens. They are #16 sacs.

Have fun!

Thanks Jon.

I will get some empty cartridges from someone here in Japan which I will fill with bottle ink.

Or - if you are selling NoNonsense pens for a reasonable amount, contact me. Thanks.

These are pretty and pretty good pens. I usually use them with italic nibs for fun. You can resac the converters with silicone sacs. There are full sized converters, slim converters and push button sac converters that I know of. I have a couple of spare FP sections for these, maybe I'll convert a RB. If I live long enough. I am starting to have my interest rekindled by these projects.
