Danitrio Cumlaude -- History?

I'm trying to find a production history for Danitrio Cumlaude -- they are clearly from an earlier era, when Danitrio wasn't exclusively in urushi. Really nice large celluloid pen; I have no idea how old it is. Every picture I've seen is sort of alike, so I won't post a pic unless that statement is not correct and one is needed! help please?

My first recollection was in 1996. The pens from 10 Warren St catalog 1996/1997.

 

I venture to guess these are first generation with optional 18k or steel nib.

 

Note: Fancy clip.

 

Second generation has same celluloid with the exception.

 

Note: Clip is plain with vertical marking 'DANITRIO'.

My memory is that Dani has always been a California company, contracting their pens to Asian makers. All I've seen have had Bock nibs. American company selling Japan and Taiwan(?) made pens with German nibs.

I've had a number, from inexpensive and unsatisfying lacquer on metal and bargain celluloids to some really nice urushis. The range seems very similar to Taccia - also from California. Are Taccia and Dani related?

Danitrio founded by Bernard Lyn is a California based company..usin' German made nibs.

 

Taccia founded by Shu-Jen-Lyn in '03. No relation to Danitrio.....................

They came in the grey/blue color and a brown color in 2 sizes. As Freddy notes, they were from the 1990s to early 2000s. Kevin Cheng, who used to be the US distributor had a lot of overstock and imperfect pens he sold maybe 5 years ago or so.

 

The pens are lite and good size. I especially liked the larger ones. Some had a metal sleeve for the converter and some plastic. If you wanted to eyedropper the pen you needed the one without the metal.

 

The old 18K nibs with a T design were Jowo. The nibs with the fireball or the emperor symbol are Bock. I think the Cumulaude nibs in gold would have been Jowo.

Also, the later versions I had also has ebonite sections, not celluloid like shown in the old catalog above.
