On eBay, I recently purchased for $125 a Yellowstone Mustard 51 Aerometric.  The seller thought it was a Kullock creation.  The pen was quite used and had lots of dried ink in the section, so I did as thorough a cleaning as I could.  I put in a new collector, feed, and nib (English broad).  Here are some photos.  The last one is a comparison in color of — from L to R — the Yellowstone Mustard Aero (Kullock?), the Yellowstone Mustard Vac (Parker), and the Dark Mustard Aero (Kullock).

I have 3 of the Dark Mustard versions, but this is the first I’ve gotten of the Yellowstone Mustard Aero.  Does anyone else have one and/or has anyone else seen one?

I am not aware of any Aerometric Yellowstone Pens. There are single jewel Yellowstone 51s. Are there any imprints on the pen?

No imprints, and that is why the seller thought it was made by Ariel Kullock.

Yes, likely Kullock. It also looks like the shell and barrel color are starting to fade.

Kullock’s people just confirmed that the pen was Ariel’s creation some time ago.  The shell and barrel color are extremely close to my comparable 51 Vacs of the same color.  The Aero’s hood had a lot of ink staining that I couldn’t remove after cleaning, and that’s definitely showing through now that I’ve re-inked the pen.  The lighter color pens made by Kullock sometimes more readily reveal dark inks inside, but if a fresh one is used and then cleaned properly, the hood looks fine.

I’ve just filled my first Kullock 51, in a subtle green-ripple ebonite.

Thank you! I'm very happy with it (and to have a 51 unique enough to post here!).

I just modified one of my earlier assemblies of Kullock orange external parts, shown here with the modifications:

I replaced a Navy Parker hood with this Kullock orange hood that I recently purchased from Ariel’s firm.  I replaced a medium Octanium nib with a medium 14k nib.  As you can see, this is a 51 Vac.  Last March, I installed the red anodized pump filler with a diaphragm, plus a new collector and feed, plus the orange demonstrator blind cap.  I usually don’t shellac the inside of the hood screws on a 51 Vac, so it was easy to screw off the previous hood.

Beautiful.  I’ve never seen the red and green swirl before.  Did you sell or gift these pens, and that’s why you “used to own” them?

Yes, the red and green pen was a bit of a head turner. It was made from hard rubber!

Both of these pens were sold in 2024.

Assembled today.  Exterior parts are all Ariel Kullock creations, except for the Parker Cordovan Brown barrel.  Not a conservative color selection, to be sure.  I have so many of them, that I wanted to assemble something distinctive.  The turquoise blind cap has an aluminum jewel.  The clutch ring is a Parker with a gold-plated center.  The cap has a beige jewel and an original 51 Vac clip.
