Monteverde Charoite (Gemstone Collection)

I'm so sorry. In a highlighter / felt nib, or in an insanely wet huge broad nib, you can get that color. Most of the time, it will look closer to this:

Thanks, I’ve been interested in this ink, but reluctant to use for all the usual reasons. Your writing samples look much more like the swabs than the samples from the reviews I could see, and it’s easy to see how different KTC appears from Charoite in yours, and I appreciate your advice here. The Charoite is beautiful in its way, and I find it well behaved, but I also find its in-between color distracting in an odd way: it seems, when looking at writing with it, I’m focused on trying to decide if it’s blue or purple. I’m sure this is because I write predominantly with blue or blue-black inks, and Charoite is in a range I don’t normally write in (blurples). Thanks again.

You are certainly welcome. Next time I ink up with KTC, I can send you a letter. I admit, I'm a huge fan of Blurples.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I wonder if diluted Charoite would be more like KTC.

“I admit it, I'm surprised that fountain pens are a hobby. ... it's a bit like stumbling into a fork convention - when you've used a fork all your life.”

Given its low ph, would Charoite be safe in a vintage pen? (Or perhaps the manufacturer's table of ph values by color is not always accurate? A ph of 2.5 seems unusual to me.)

Moderation in everything, including moderation.

That color looks only slightly bluer than Pilot Iro Aji-Sai.

It also doesn't look remotely like my bottle of KTC. Mine is super dark, and is more of a dark indigo with purple undertones, unless it gets diluted (in which case it's an unsaturated mid-spectrum purple).

As for Charoite, I'd be seeing how the color compared to Noodler's North African Violet or PR Purple Mojo.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

YEAH! What she said!

2.4 is darned acidic--it's on the level of straight lemon juice, which would react badly with anything metal (like your nib!). And I don't even want to think about what it would do to a vintage celluloid pen or rubber sac.

YIKES!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
