Enamel And Engine Turned Pens.

Apparently I have been told by friends that for too long 'I have hidden my light under a bushel'-whatever that means?

This is my first attempt of communicating on a forum of any kind.

I am Robert Glover, sculptor of the'Brit Awards Trophy', Designer/maker/enameller of many fountain pens inc. Michel Perchin MP6/7.The 'Fistral', 'Gatsby', 'Plumage', 'Jaguar', amongst others for Conway Stewart.

The 'Revolution' and 'Kaleidoscope' for RikWill. Enamelling and engraving for Montegrappa, Chopard, and RR.motor cars.

 

I am currently working on my own collection of Bespoke pens in Sterling Silver with Enamel and Engine Turning for the more discerning collector.

It means do not hide good news, such as one hiding a lamp under a bushel basket, but instead share your good news with everyone, such as a light upon a hill.

I remember a friend of the family had an engine turned and enamelled powder compact - it made a big impression on me when I was a kid. The combination of crisp turning and smooth enamel always made me want to stroke the surface just to check I couldn't feel the corrugations - it seemed like a kind of magic to me then, and I suppose in a way it still is.

I enclose a photo of my work in progress - sterling silver pens in low temp. enamel.

Turned from solid silver bar, Hallmarked around the cap bands and assayed at the London assay office.

My hallmark is also featured on the 18ct. nib.

I hand make my own clips in titanium which is a pig of job, but results in an almost indestructible clip that should last a lifetime?

The engine turned pattern around the the girth of the barrel is known as 'Hobnail' and also assists grip.

The main e/t surface is a classic Moire pattern and is included under the almost black enamel on some of the caps.

I tend to use big fat threads on all my pens to avoid 'crossing'and they just seem to fall into place every time.
