Sheaffer Modern Balance Pens - Can We Show All Of Them?

Hi, Folks!

I'll start a new modern Balance thread with the Sheaffer Balance Limited Edition. Let's see if we can post all of the versions! Would love to see someone post a demonstrator as well as any prototypes.

Sheaffer introduced the Balance Limited Edition in 1997 and followed with the new cartridge/converter Balance II line in 1998. This oversize Limited Edition lever fill pen was made as an homage to the Sheaffer Balance pens of the 1930s. The new Balance pen line featured beautiful marbled acrylics as well as solid colors. The Balance Limited Edition was 6000 pieces and a small number of lever fill clear demonstrators were also made.

The Limited Edition's acrylic is a marbling of celadon green, vermilion and black. The nib is a replica of an early two-tone palladium plated Sheaffer Lifetime nib done in 18 karat gold. The clip is stamped with the Sheaffer's style logo and all trim is 22 karat gold electroplated. Each pen has its edition number stamped on the barrel.
Thanks!

I happen to have the model shown above, but unfortunately, the barrel is cracked at the threads. Is there any remedy?

Hard times don't last, but hard people do.

Thank a Veteran.

Yes, it can be repaired. There are a few highly skilled individuals who can do the work. Be prepared to pay a significant amount however as there are no spare barrels, so a repair rather than a replacement will be required. Also, there will remain a rather fragile barrel present which might crack in a different place.

I have 3927 of 6000

I understand why people mostly kept one ink only in these lever filling pens 'back in the day'. They are a royal pain to get clean. Definitely not ideal for a person who likes to switch inks regularly! But beyond that it is a special pen. Fascinating marbled body fits my hand perfectly un-posted. There was a black and silvery model in my grandmother's possession when her house was cleaned out after she passed in 1968, I believe my sister has it, but never uses it?

An old thread here shows all the pens side by side. Google Image search will find it.

Dark Blue Balance II, I believe. Never used. Has a section with a FeatherTouch XF nib and a section that will accommodate a rollerball refill.

Very very beautiful pens. However, I do not collect modern balances. I am a Grande Connaisseur guy. But seeing these pictures, I may change my mind and buy one or two of these too.

Here's one of mine--an Aspen. I used not to like fine nibs, but the one that came with this pen was so silky smooth that I've picked up a few more fines since then for notetaking. And I didn't even buy this for the nib but for the gorgeous marbling, which I think is one of the most beautiful out there. Thankfully no lip cracks yet, but I'm being very careful.

This model I believe was also called the Madison (after Fort Madison)--top of the line of the Balance II models--and its loveliness was compromised only by its fragility. I had a chance to get one sometime ago but passed on it precisely because I couldn't bear the thought of having to deal with a fracture later on. Still a beauty to have. (Note that its section isn't concave like those of the other Balance IIs.)
