New J Herbin Brown Ink?

HalloweenHJB

Recommended Posts

I did a search to see if there were comments/reviews on the J. Herbin Encre Brune Parfum Cacao ink, and I didn't see anything posted. Did I miss it?

I just got a bottle, and it's a really warm, rich shade of cocoa brown, and the ink is fairly saturated —UNlike the other scented inks by J. Herbin, such as Ambre and Violette—. The chocolate scent is very pleasant, as well.

As the closeup may show (I'm not the greatest photographer!), there is some "shine" to the ink when the ink is heavy on TR paper. No different colored sheen, but a glint of shine, if that makes sense:

Nice :) how reddish is it in person? Looks kinda 1/2 way between Ancient Copper and Lie De The.

Love the look of that pen :puddle:

It's on the somewhat redder side of browns, but not super red (like Scribes Dutch Treat Chocolate or Diamine Ancient Copper). But definitely not on the greener side of brown. Ya know? ;)

I haven't seen anything posted on this ink until now. It is a lovely color. I hope to try this ink in the future.

I hadn't ever seen this color nor was I aware their scented inks came in the normal bottles. I've only seen them in the smaller ones.

You have beautiful handwriting. The ink looks like a nice color too. I like browns.

I'm pretty sure that this range comprises scented versions of the regular inks (my apple scented bottle is definitely Vert Pre) . This one looks to be Terre de Feu.

Interesting. I had to check on that, and you're right about this ink being almost identical to Terre de Feu. The only subtle differences are that the color of TdeF is ever so slightly more red, and EB has a thicker, more saturated texture that leaves a shiny gleam. But close enough. Good eye, John!

Does.... Does it taste like chocolate?

I know there are people who taste ink in reviews... but I'm pretty sure you are better off with a nice cup of coco.

But the sky will always come to me.™

No, I haven't tasted it. The scent of chocolate is more than enough for me in this case! ;)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
