Step Forward Paper, No More Apparantly

I guess Step Forward wheat straw paper is no longer in production. Amounts in stock are what is left.

It seems many of the paper alternatives like sugar cane paper did not catch on enough.

Staples carries it as of March 2018. It's usually a special order item that you can have shipped to your home for a fee or can pick up at the store for free. It's only the 500 sheet reams of copy/office/all-purpose paper, though. No notebooks or anything. I spoke with a customer service agent today because I recently tried this paper and like it so much, and they said there are no plans to discontinue it.

I think the Step Forward company discontinued being a retailer and is now either a division of Staples or is concentrating on just being a manufacturer/supplier. "Step Forward" is no longer an independent brand but is a Staples house brand now.

EDIT: I know this is an older post, but people keep pointing to it and saying Step Forward paper isn't being made anymore, so I thought I'd put this update here for anyone who finds this post when they're Googling the product.

Staples is still making their Sustainable Earth sugarcane legal pads. Office Depot is also currently making sugarcane legal pads. I really like sugarcane paper and find it is quite fountain pen-friendly. All things being equal (price) I’d buy sugarcane paper over anything else. I’m even willing to pay a small premium but not double which is what the Office Depot pads are compared to non-sugarcane pads. The Staples pads are a bit more reasonable though still more than regular junk paper legal pads.

Last time I compared, Office Depot's sugarcane pads handle FP ink better than Staple's Sustainable Earth pads. But I understand the quality is up and down on those.

If the wheat paper came in pads, I'd be so happy.

As for which I prefer, it depends on my mood, the ink, what/how I'm writing... The wheat paper is toothier and handles heavy deposits of ink better. The sugarcane comes in convenient pads and is smoother, though it feathers more if you use wet writers.

Anyone know where you can pick up any kind of wheat straw paper in reams, larger notebooks, or notepads? I know of the stuff from the penhabit but I want larger options. It is no longer on Staples.com. Ahhhh! I really like this paper.

As I said at the time, StepForward is defunct and stores (including online) were selling available on hand stock without expected replenishment.

It is no longer sold by staples.
