Was the Parker 45 always manufactured in the U.S.A. or did it change over to Europe and some point?

The Parker 45 has been manufactured in England and Argentina in addition to the USA. They might also have been made in Mexico and France but I am not positive about the those two. The P45 is one of my favorite pens!

Not sure about Mexico, but the 45 surely was produced in France and Brazil in addition to USA, UK and Argentina.

Yes to Mexico as well, per earlier threads, with reporting from member in Mexico.

Thanks for the replies. Another question: was it always made in the U.S.A. for its full run along with the other countries? The one I have doesn't have a date code so I'm trying to get a range of dates when it could have been made.

The cap top tassie would tell us about the timeline or the dates range when the pen was made. BTW, a 45 with a gold section ring should have gold clip. Either the gold ring is a replacement on your pen or the cap does not belong to the pen.

I've emailed the person who sold it to me. He had three 45s for sale and I think the caps got switched at some point.

I think Newell/Rubbermaid closed the Janesville, Wisconsin factory about 2000. Newhaven, UK lasted longer. I think Ontario closed in the '50s, before the P-45.

I have never seen a Danish 45. That is a darn good question.

OK, I'm back with the correct cap for the pen. I guess my question has been answered in that to be Made in USA it had to be before 2000. Is there any way to narrow that down? Attached is a photo with the correct cap.

Dish tassie - that your cap has - was introduced in early 70s. The datecoding began in 1980. So if your pen has no datecode it is from the 70s. If it is post 1980 it would have the datecode stamped on the cap. Look closely and you may see some letters with or without numbers eg TE, IIIQ, Q.I etc.

I have two 45s, neither with a Date code, both with gold section ring and clip, but one cap says Made in USA and the other says Made in France. It's quite likely these caps have been switched while in my possession; is there any way to tell the country of origin from the pen body?

Just what I wanted to know. Thank you. The cap does not have a date code so the pen was made in the 1970s.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
