Lamy Pur Feedback

I recently found out about the Lamy Pur and over the last few days I think I've read most of the few reviews available online. I've also found a handful of spots that are selling the last few units. So, should I? Or should I save-up a little more for a CP1?

I would assume that they all write the same since they have the same feed, filler, and nib. One concern I have with the CP1 (to me one of the best looking pens around) is that it looks really thin. I don't have overly large hands but I do prefer my pens closer to Safari size than pencil size. A Pur looks like a fatter, cheaper version of it. It's less common too. Discontinued Lamys also somehow "resonate" with me and I think this is the latest discontinued Lamy pen—then again, was it discontinued for a reason?

nb. I have used a friend's Logo and it's not for me.

The CP1 is a bit longer than de Logo and bit thinner, I have them both and the CP1 is the one for me

It is my EDC pen and as long as it writes it will be.

A plus, to me, for the CP1 is that with use and time it will show a bit of the brass body and develop a unic look exclusive to your pen.

I also have a CP1. It's currently my desk pen, and I love how it writes and feels. It's a very balanced pen, with minimal and functionalist look (which I love). I'm planning to upgrade it to a gold nib and make my so-called grail pen.

Its simplicity is an understatement and it's a much better pen than it looks. As a blog said, it's a sufferer of middle-child syndrome and under appreciated between ever-popular safari and sophisticated 2000. I always admire the styling when it's in my hand.

Don't be fooled by its thin body. I fell in love with thin pens after using my father's Cross Century I fountain pen. I always liked and used pens with similar thickness to Lamy Safaris, but CP1 doesn't feel excessively thin or flimsy. Just try it. Lastly, it's grip and feed is same with CP1.

The barrel of the pur at 11.2mm is larger than the cp1 of 9.4mm, as measured with my caliper.

The cp1 is more pencil-like in size.

For me, both pens do not post well. When I post the pens, they feel tail heavy.

I prefer the cp1, as my hands grew up in the slimline era, and is used to the thinner pens.

I generally don't post any of my pens, so when I talk about balance, I always talk about unposted configuration. I don't think these pens are designed with "well posting" in mind.

The design of the back of the pen of both the cp1 and the pur appears to be specifically to post the cap.

And when posted, the cap blends into the back of the pen.

They are not "unpostable", but the clip of CP1 is solid steel, so CP1 becomes top heavy when posted. When I said not designed for well posting, I tried to say "It may not be optimized for posting".

Hard to advice what to do on that one. All I can say is that I really enjoy my Lamy Pur. Nice clean simple looks, not too heavy, and a sweet no nonsense writer. I've also found it to be a practical EDC. Great little pen.

Am a Lamy collector ! i got a Pur today -   i  wasnt sure of what i was getting but wanted something thicker than my CP1 .. and i was pleasantly surprised . suited my handwriting well and the slightly thicker pen made sense to me. Dont regret it one bit . Read some online reviews of the section being more plasticky but it sure was a joy to hold...🙂
