As foretold, a maiden rose from the lake to present this to me, and ever since then Lizzie squirms in her seat whenever I take it out. She points and says "You don't really think that thing makes you King." But she still likes to stroke it.

No problem I just give them a ridiculous number and they are happy

You could price it in nanofirkins of platinum at the spot price. My Lamy 2000 cost me about five million.

My version of Cattar's proposal would be to ask whether they are thinking of buying one? Diversionary, or potentially a new user or even a profit.

and i have short hands..they tend to snatch it from my hands.

I usually tell them the truth, but I usually carry a pen that is worth less than $30 to work. It is already regarded "expensive" by them.

And then usual respond is it is beautiful but so expensive, and my usual response is yes, if you compare it with bic stic. However, if you compare it with nice pen such as uniball, then it is not, because I refill the ink. Tons of ink for $10-$20 (normal blue or black ink).

I generally say "More than your cheap rump is willing to pay if you break it....," unless it's my older sister....she is the one that started me on better quality pens...then I say "less than your Montblanc"

First you have to effect a far off look and then talk slowly as if to no one in particular.

"I killed a man in Venezuela. It was a messy fight. This was my prize... (long pause to let the words sink in, then snap back to attention, look at the person in thr eyes and say in a chipper tone) Gee, I guess I didn't pay anything for it. Not bad for a free pen, eh?"

Walk away, don't look back.

Feel free to pick a different far away land that is vaguely violent.

As much as I am willing to pay for it.

Too many ppl asked how much my pen's worth. I am running out of ideas... You?

This Friday 3, March 2017....A mamaluke asked this very question....

My reply to its query....Nothin'....zip naught zero nothin'

No problemo on my end....And the mamaluke....

I usually say priceless. They respond with a puzzled look, and I go on to explain that the solid gold tip was made in the Victorian era and aren't made anymore. A display of flex writing is the final touch.

After that, they understand.

Well, just tell the price you paid for it.

Except if you wife is asking. RAISE ALERT WHENEVER SHE ASKS THAT.

Do the shoes have closed toe sections? Prop them up to use as pen holders.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
