I don't think I could ever send a letter in green though. Too much stigma here!

Typically it's a signature and address on the envelope is all.

Same for me. Almost nothing is hand written for me apart from some calcs and notes. But these are just scanned in by me as and when.

In my pocket protector, pens a selection that I can choose from. Interestingly, they are all Noodler's inks.:

Yay! Another pocket protector user. Are you using a classic vinyl one or something else? I use a homemade pleather one myself.

Today so far has been Robert Oster Astorquiza Rot for a project I am working on. At least the draft. I have a pen loaded with Diamine Merlot uncapped at the moment.

I would like to carry Diamine Sherwood Green (a nice dark green), but I have not found a pen that will reliably not clog with that ink.

I like that color also and decided to mix up something that had a nice flow.

I mixed 1 part of Aurora Black with 5 parts DeAtramentis Deepwater Obsession (Black/Green) and had excellent results.

So far as office colors go, I can only use black on all state forms where I work in PA.

FP's won't work well on the cheap paper they use anyway, so no great loss.

I do write interoffice notes with a variety of colors though.

People know it's me without a signature.

I'm using the above mix this month (March) & was using Diamine Oxblood in February.

I haven't decided what to call this GREEN

I have no doubt that, should I wind up working in an office again, I will mostly use the Six Essentials, or else my penitential ink. Right now, that lineup is:

Black (penitential): Noodler's Bad Black Mocassin diluted 5:4 with water, in a Noodler's Nikita ED or else my Bulow X750 -- or the 0.6mm stub Nemosine Singularity, if I wind up working on a carpeted floor. At any rate, something I can pull the feed out of, for scrubbing with a toothbrush.

Black (other liturgical seasons): MontBlanc-Simplo Black with SuperCleaner SC21 (and when that's gone, Parker Quink Permanent Black with Solv-X) in my Dad's Parker "51". And when those are gone, probably Noodler's Borealis Black diluted 1:1 in a Hero 616. And if I live long enough to see all that gone, THEN I'll see about getting a bottle of Noodler's Heart of Darkness.

Blue-Black: I'll probably try to mix something up using one of my blacks with either Iroshizuku Ku-Jaku or Noodler's VMail Midway Blue. Once the Ku-Jaku is gone, I'll look into Pilot Blue-Black. The Midway Blue is actually my wife's ink, after all.

Purple/Violet: Right now, I mix Waterman Purple, Noodler's WidowMaker, and "I Can't Believe It's Waterman Florida Blue" at 4:3:1. Once I can't use that any more, I'll probably buy a bottle of Noodler's original Purple.

Blue: Noodler's Blue (or Blue Eel. I don't really care which; they're equally pretty).

Green: Diamine Sherwood.

Brown: Once I no longer have my diluted bottle of Noodler's Red-Black (probably around 4:1, to mitigate smudging) to kick around, I think I'm likely to get a bottle of Noodler's original Brown. Unless I choose Iroshizuku Yama-Guri.

For official documents, a blue ink to identify original-signature copies - usually a dark blue like Diamine Midnight. I use various reds for editing paper documents - currently Diamine Wild Strawberry. I've also used J. Herbin Rouge Opera.

For my own writing at work I like a dark purple like PR Ebony Purple or Diamine Eclipse. No light inks are permitted (fountain pens or otherwise) in case they don't photocopy clearly.

Vinyl

I used it constantly in college, as I carried my pens in my shirt pocket.

But today, I keep the pocket protector in my case (computer bag/brief case/pack) until I get to the office, then it may go into my shirt pocket or stay in the case.

  • 4 years later...

In the process of work, everything is important to me, starting with a pleasant working atmosphere and ending with stylish and convenient stationery. I worked in an office for a long time, but I realized that this is not my thing. Then I decided to take probably the most important step in my life and went freelance. Now I have so many orders that working from home has ceased to be convenient. After all, home is a place where I relax. So I decided to take a walk in the search for coworking space chicago  and found a very comfortable one for myself .

@XOF, :W2FPN:  It is to be hoped you'll enjoy your time here, and contribute greatly with both questions and information!

I am now a registered nurse, working a med cart at a skilled nursing facility.  I carry a stub FPR Jaipur filled with Noodler's Bad Black Moccasin diluted 1:1, and  Montblanc Mystery Black (a gift from my stepson) in a Jinhao 51A.  Like the Hero 616s that preceded it, the 51A gets clipped to the outside of my scrub breast pocket for quick access -- I pull it from its cap, jot, and slip it back in.  I've never had either pen just drop out of the cap; both are airweight pens, and have the same capping as the Parker "51", six leaf springs in the cap that contact the clutch ring between hood and barrel.
