Las Vegas Fountain Pen Stores?

Next month, I have a conference in Las Vegas. I would like to see if anyone has a good fountain pen store recommendation. There will be others from my company there who are into fountain pens and I am responsible for finding a few recommendations.

Thanks

I was there in April and posted the same inquiry before my trip. In the Fashion Mall down by Wynn is a Paradise Pen. Friendly enough but not overly knowledgeable about their stock.

In Wynn is Wink...a combination pen shop high end eyeglass boutique. They carry only 2 or 3 brands of pen (Oscarson, Perchin) which occupy two small showcases. The entire store is 20 feet by 6 feet!! IMHO not worth the effort of finding the place inside the casino.

And that's about it. Phone book was no help.

Cheers

Bob

However you might cruise the pawn shops, given a chance. I was stationed there back in the 90s and gamblers pawned the most incredible things...

Paradise Pen is about it, but it's the best PP location I've been to. The staff is friendly and helpful, and doesn't care if you walk in wearing levi's and a T-shirt. (Vegas is full of millionaires in casual clothes, so that's not too surprising.)

Not too knowledgable about pens, but they let me play with a bunch and were very helpful with the ones I bought. I'd buy more pens every time I go to Vegas if not for the fact that PP's prices are full retail.

Oh, there's also a Mont Blanc store in Caesar's Palace if you're into that sort of thing.

Suprisingly, slim pickin's in Vegas.

In addition to what was already mentioned, some cigar shops (the one in the shops of Venetian comes to mind) have some pens, usually ST Dupont, mixed in with the lighters. Not really worth a special trip, but if you're already there it may be worth stopping in.

Yes, the cigar shop at Mandalay Place has a few pens too. All ST Dupont as I recall.

Also, there's a big "Indoor Swap Meet" place way off the strip - I think it's on Decatur and Charleston, but I could look it up. I've never found any pens there, although a display of Hero pens would fit right in with some of the inventory so I keep hoping.

There's a little tool shop within the swap meet, though, where I've found some very cheap dental tools for use as sac scrapers, and they have some other tools like loupes that might be nice for pen repair.

I was hoping to find a list of shops on this thread as new resident of Vegas.... I was by the Paradise Pen shop this morning, very friendly, but as a previous member stated, they are asking full MSRP... not surprising as they are located adjacent to Neiman Marcus in one of the most high-end malls I've ever been to... But hey, it's gotta be tough to justify keeping a mall on a piece of property directly across from the casinos who's gross revenue is almost 1BB/annum.

Currently Inked:

Montegrappa Extra 1930 Shiny Lines "Dove" L.E. (05/80) - Montblanc Permanent Grey (90yr Anniversary)

Pineider Arco - Monteverde Scotch Brown

Montblanc Rouge et Noir - Montblanc Bleu Nuit

Montblanc Meisterstuck Ultra Black - Pilot Iroshizuku Take-Sumi

Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Age Maxi - J. Herbin Lie de Thé

Alligator Soup is a stationery store over at Fort Apache and Sahara (near the movie theater) which carries a selection of fountain pens and refills. They have another store over in Green Valley, but I haven't been to that one.

I picked up a Lamy Safari, and they carry a handful of other brands (Montblanc, Retro 51, Acme, Cross, etc.). Everything seems to be full MSRP like PP, but it's an opportunity to support a local shop, plus it saves a trip to Fashion Show.

+1 on the pawn shops. Just beware that some of the brokers will look up the MSRP and expect you to pay that or nearly that.
