The Petrol Safari

I'll probably be the one jumping up and down, yelling, "ooh, ooh, let it be me! Let it be me!" when the damn things are released.

Well, it's true! I just got done jumping and yelling "Let it be me!" as I closed the deal on a Medium nib Petrol at Pen Chalet for $26 using my discount code. :) (Fortunately, medium nibs are my favorite - because the others are on special order).

Goulet has the Petrol in stock now - the announcement email just arrived a few moments ago. I was able to swoop in and get a Petrol with a fine nib.

I pre-ordered and paid for an EF Petrol. This thing about announcing and then much later making the pen available to heighten expectations might not be such a great idea. I have already lost interest in this color, and the pen hasn't arrived yet.

And I just posted in another thread that I may buy a Wing Sung 698.

I hate this site sometimes.

My debt he paid, my death he died, that I might live.

I just bought an extra fine lamy safari petrol from gouletpens :cloud9:

Funny thing is that the extra fines are sold out already!

Most of the time I see the mediums sell out the fastest?

I wonder how this happened? Or am I missing something here? :ninja:

In car on way home from work:

Adult self: You have serious financial goals and this pen is a want, not a need.

Child self: But it's so pretty and it's a limited edition.

Adult self: I understand. We all want things we can't have sometimes.

Child self: But you have the money in your bank account. (sniffle) It's not fair.

Adult self: I understand. Life isn't always fair.

Child self: But I want it (throws itself on floor and screams a high-pitched wail).

Adult self: what do you say we go home and lock the computer in the trunk of the car so you'll be safe? then we can go for a nice jog after a healthy dinner!

Child self: Okay. . .(small sob and hiccup)

Adult self: I'm so proud of you for making a good choice!

Later at home Goulet Shopping cart

Child self: It's only $29.50. Maybe she won't notice. . .

Goulet might have ordered fewer of the XF. Or perhaps Lamy shipped many fewer XFs than Goulet ordered.

I like the color of the pen quite a bit. But check out the ink in the cartridge that came with the pen.

Anybody else get a cartridge like mine?

Update: I heard back from Pen Chalet where I bought my pen - This is the blue cartridge that's included with the pen.

I have to say I enjoy the Dark Lilac pen very much. I like this color even more. My husband was just admiring it. I can clearly see if I don't get another Petrol, this pen is going to migrate to his desk.

Mine came with the blue. Wonder why they don't include a Petrol cartridge?

Logistics most likely. All colors might run through the same machine putting in the cartridges. Of you change to a special edition you would have to take the blue ones out and the petrol cartridges into the magazines. Changing to a standard color the same other way around.

Sounds reasonable to me.
