I have been using this ink in my aka tamenuri pens and it is a lovely match. The FC inks I have used have been a pleasure so far. Thr bottle has a good liner and is easy to fill large pens from.

Interesting. It's got that weird dark edge effect to the lines that some of my favorite inks, like vintage Skrip Peacock and Diamine Tyrian Purple have (I think people are referring to that as "haloing").

Not sure I'm wild about the color. But then, I said that about the original formulation of Rouge Hematite, too (the version with the large gold flakes) -- I tried it mostly just to see what the fuss was all about. Then I found out.... B)

So I won't say no to this one outright. Especially with those dark edgings....

Thanks for the review. And not. My wish list of inks to try just keeps getting longer and longer....

I am fond of reddish-brown and brownish-red inks. I picked up a bottle of F-C Urushi Red at the SF Pen Show, and it's been in a couple of my pens ever since - a Conway Stewart wood grain ebonite and a Scriptorium in Vesuvius ebonite.

 

I agree with the comments about the lovely behavior of all three of the F-C inks I have tried to date. I'm not quite ready to have Urushi Red replace Diamine Oxblood as my favorite ink for Aka-tamenuri pens, though.

I just inked an wood grained ebonite pen tonite with another ink previously ordered, that arrived today; I was so excited to see this ink last nite that I flew to FC & ordered up a bottle after the review. NOW I know what the next fill will be for the pen I only filled today! It is nice to discover new inks & even more to read other persons opinions on same, so that I can be planning my next step!

 

Thanks to all of you for making this year something to look forward to.

Not sure you want to see it -- it's a spreadsheet. The first row is headers, but then the rest is all inks, sorted by brand, and then which seller carries them (and if so, for how much). The current count (although that does include inks I've tried and want to get a full bottle of)? 215 inks.... :o

Does anyone else find this disappointing on Tomoe? For me it dries to a rather flat brown on it. Otherwise it's great.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
