Seitz Kreuznach Plum Blue

One of the most boring colours I've ever used. It's just flat.

Also, why on earth would this ink be called "blue"?

(BTW this Grey Plum sample I received looks different from what I've used before. This one looks just blue black.)

That's definitely an odd color. Maybe "blue plums" are that color, and that' how they came up with the name?

The splash is a much nicer color than the writing, which, honestly, somehow looks more like colored pencil than ink. Maybe this ink needs a wetter pen and a broader nib.

Thanks for the review. This is one I think I can pass on (although it might be interesting to see it coming out of the M200 IM nib....

Well, I was going to say thanks for including the Grey Plum snippet - it's been on my 'hmm' list for a while. Then I read the bit about this looking different from your original sample. Hmm.

I thought that maybe there's a species of plum which is named "blue plum" in German, but I checked it and now I don't think so. Damson would be a more appropriate name, although it is very different from Diamine Damson!

I very rarely disagree with the OP but I definitely do on this occasion (sorry Lgsoltek). My ink doesn't look like the writing sample above. This ink is not flat. It's got an appropriate name. I had it in a pen for about 2 weeks & I really like the plum/mauve shade with a distinct blue note. It shades beautifully & looks almost 2-tone on the paper. OK it's not saturated at all, but it isn't dry & is very pretty, with lots of character. I don't have an ink that matches the colour.

It looks better on Tomoe River with a very wet nib, but still more or less that colour in my photos. I don't really perceive any blue...

Okay, I'll explain, out here in the desert we do have blue plums and red plums. If you aren't excited by plums this may not be a big deal to you.

Blue Plum

And yes Damsons are considered Blue plums.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Sugar plums and prune plums are blue plums.
