Week #2 / 8 Jan: Throw Of The Dice - 2017 Weekly Ink Project

Thanks to all for joining our first week's ink project! May you have a lucky and happy year.

The second week is coming very soon (depending on where you live and whether you count Sunday or Monday as the first day of the week). We are doing a "random ink" this week: Close your eyes and pick a random ink from your stash, or devise any curious method to randomly draw an ink for the week. No peeking! :D

As usual, don't forget to share with us your choice of ink, your writing, drawing, doodling or anything with the ink in this thread. You can take a photo, make a scan, or even better, write letters and CRV reviews (what is a CRV?) and mail them to the many ink pals here. You are welcome to check back on this thread even when we've gone past this week.

---------

Week #3 we are doing the theme "When Old Loves Rekindle": Use an ink you once loved but somehow ignored for a long time.

I'm going to count up all my inks (I have a file listing them by brand on my computer, for both bottled inks and samples) and will use a random number generator. If it turns out that I end up with an empty sample vial, I'll either pick a vial on either side of it in the tray or either before or after it in the list. ;)

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Did you know that the Fountain Pen Database now includes a section for inks?

Here's my random ink of the week:

fpn_1483893112__project_52_weeks_of_inks

In real life it's actually bluer than this picture shows - and the paper has a yellowish cast to it. I'm afraid I do not like it much, although the dip in Hero 232 does help, in my eyes. I may add it to my bottle of Random Blue ink (which I started some time ago and thus is also a truly random ink - the only condition for addition is that the ink be blue).

a fountain pen is physics in action... Proud member of the SuperPinks

This threads are simply awesome.

@Migo - gods of randomness are sometimes gracious. Nice choice.

@Lgsoltek - Olivastre rocks. Also, to be honest, I have more samples than ink bottles. Actually it's frightening. I systematically give them away but still there's around 90 vials in my house.

This is a fun 'game.' Thanks for coming up with it, Lgsoltek!

So this week, I actually did close my eyes, hover over the inks and grab...this one. R & K Alt Goldgrun, loaded in a Pelikan pen I haven't used in so long I had to look up what it's called.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
