Noodler's Monkey Hanger (Uk Exclusive)

Recommended Posts

I remember when this ink first came out it seemed like some people laughed at it. The swab at the shop's online site made the ink seem somewhat light. But I never trust swabs. I can understand if someone doesn't like the color of an ink, not everyone likes every color in ink. I can understand if someone only likes bright, or saturated inks, or doesn't like them. Anyway,

there is nothing wrong with this ink.

This is an unsaturated blue ink, leaning somewhat towards green, totally waterproof, fast-drying. It's lightness value is not much different than many other inks, such as Kon-peki. It is perfectly readable, definitely not too light, nor too bright.

Pen: Edison Premiere (F-steel)

Papers: MvL=Mohawk via Linen, TR=Tomoe River, Hij=Hammermill 28 lb inkjet, Rhodia=Rhodia 90g ivory.

I'm very thankful for the inky friend that sent such a wonderful sample of this ink. I'm really happy with it. This ink is available only in the UK at Pure Pens. Currently offered for £12.95 including VAT.

Totally waterproof. Not one drop of the dye lifted off the paper. Minimal bleeding through to the verso.

Thanks for the review. I rather like it.

I like it and reckon it's worth a bottle in anyone's money. As is the exclusive Brexit!

The Brexit is worth a bottle in my money? For me, this ink is worth more than the Brexit.

Thank you for the review, White Lotus. How do you think it compares to North Star?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

That looks interesting. But I'm somewhat loathe to order a US ink that has to be shipped from across the Atlantic. :(

North Star Liberator is a more pure blue, warmer, and is a bit darker in value. My guess is most would prefer to North Star to Monkey Hanger on color.

Ah hah, I found it. I did try them both in the 366+ inks last year.

Interesting! Scans can also change the looks of the colors.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
