Novelli - Rome, Italy

As you can see, I do not post often but I have been reading here for years.

I wanted to take a quick second to make note of a pen store that I know some of you have frequented - Novelli (Rome, Italy). Marco was wonderful to deal with! On my recent vacation to Rome, I made sure to stop into Novelli based on what I found here and elsewhere on the web. I was not let down in the least. I walked out with an Aurora Optima Resin (fine nib). I asked Marco for help in picking out a pen to commemorate my trip to Italy (therefore I wanted an Italian pen) and he patiently pulled many samples out for me to inspect and try. I'm thrilled that I had such a good experience and a great souvenir from a wonderful country.

Anyway, if you find yourself in Rome do yourself a favor and swing by. I know I will if I ever find myself there again!

Thank you for sharing an experience I would be MORE than happy to enjoy. Sadly my last visit to Italy did not coincide with my renewed interest in fountain pens. However as nice as he has been to me purely via internet sales,I cannot imagine how much nicer the experience would be "in House!" Enjoy your pen & I hope it will lead you back to their "door" again.

novelli and marco have also given me excellent prices and service online, in the purchase of one of the earliest releases of the burnt-orange pelikan M800. you can save yourselves a trip to rome (although that's always pleasant )--check them out online.

ditto on the props for Marco at Novelli. As mentioned, be sure to check out their website when considering Italian pens (plus, sign up for their emails to learn of new offerings and specials). For US buyers, the strengthening USD has resulted in very good prices. Communication is great and quick by email (be mindful of time difference, of course). He seems to have strong connections with the manufacturers so can handle special requests, and the one time I had a problem, he offered remedy immediately. Just a top notch fellow.

I'll be going to Rome later this year, and I'd love to pick buy a pen while I'm there. Much more fun than buying it online. So thanks very much for the information about Novelli. It may also make it easier to resist buying something expensive sooner.

Does a non-resident get the VAT back by filling out and submitting paperwork?

I was introduced to Marco at Novelli by a fellow member here. He is a nice guy and his customer service is second to none. He was able to source me a rare pen at a very reasonable price. Thanks to Marco I got the very last remaining Arco Green vintage reissue before the company went down. I highly recommend Novelli.
