Hi From San Francisco Bay Area

We in the San Francisco Bay Area think of ourselves as so unique that we could be a country, all to ourselves It has been suggested that the state of California secede from the US after the past national election but there's dawdling on that front.

 

I rediscovered fountain pens for sketching a couple of years ago when I took online courses with Danny Gregory's Sketchbook Skool http://sketchbookskool.com.

 

YEARS ago (mid to late 1970's) I had taken a course in Italic handwriting form Fred Eager who has brought out a newer version of his excellent book ​The Italic Way to Beautiful Handwriting: Cursive and Calligraphic (2015) https://www.amazon.com/Italic-Way-Beautiful-Handwriting-Calligraphic/dp/1626540381/ref=pd_sbs_14_img_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=91WZXWBEGBBB7E1ZYP0T

 

Now I have a small collection of serviceable fountain pens including a set from Mr. Pen in London (Parson's Three) with lovely Italic nibs, a fistful of Lamy's including two for calligraphy, a TWSBI ECO or two. There's a small shelf of inks to play with and I've gone to a pen show or two. They are all very serviceable, not luxurious.

 

I love infecting other people with fountain pen madness although chances to do that are ridiculously scarce.

 

I'm an elder in ministerial school.
