Visconti Blue

Visconti Blue is a rich and intense colour. Someone asked in Inky Thoughts about a colour close to International Klein Blue (I saw a painting of it in Centre Pompidou and it just captures your eyes). I think Visconti Blue is a good contender.

It definitely looks like what I call a full-bodied "pure" blue: both high value and high chroma. Seems to have passable water ressitance as well. A good alternate to Majestic Blue and Electric Blue? (if only Visconti were cheaper or at least easier to find here)

As re a "pure" and rich blue in general, this definitely remains one of a small handful of them. (For me, of course, but also for many other members.)

Do cartridges and bottles have the same hue? I've tested some cartridges and I don't see that beautiful power blue.

"Power blue"... that's a good one. Sorta gets me thinking that the new MB Miles thing is a wimp blue.

It's tough to do justice to the visual pop one gets from Visconti Blue. You nailed it, Lgsoltek. Excellent showcasing of a great ink.

I love the smell of fountain pen ink in the morning.

Hey MB, this is how you make a blue!

:lticaptd:

This looks very nice. Is that sheen I'm seeing? I'd like to see a side by side with Akkerman Shocking Blue, and Diamine Oxford Blue, both of which I have.

Thanks for the review.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

This has become one of my favorites as well... beautiful, rich color. My only gripe with it is it takes forever and a day to flush out.

Thanks for the review -- that is a beautiful blue! I am seriously tempted to get a bottle.

I've been on a quest to see if I could commit all Seven Deadly Sins in a single day. Finally, it dawned on me I shouldn't try for the One Day Wonder Prize for all seven in one day. It's simply out of any question as you can't commit decent sloth while busily ticking the other six off your crowded "to do" list. -- ViolinWriter

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
