Many thanks to Amber for sending me a sample of one of her workhorse ink: Noodler's Dromgoole's Steel Blue.

 

It's not my favourite colour but this one behaves rather well (compared to some other Noodler's inks i've tried). The dry time is not too horribly long. It's not as sluggish as others but I won't say it's lubricating either. I like the water-resistance.

What paper do you use for your reviews? Seems to be a quite good one...

 

 

There's a tiny bit of feathering. The paper in the writing sample is a store brand 80g copy paper bought from the supermarket Monoprix. The one in the comparisons is Maruman looseleaf.

I picked up a bottle of this ink in Australia a couple of years ago, and wasn't initially impressed - it's not my favourite shade of ink - but the more I've used it the more I like it. No mess no fuss cleaning up in my pens, it's well-behaved on the page, and pretty waterfast. Glad to have it in my ink collection!

I really love this ink. It looks different in different pens. It is well behaved mostly. It can stay in a pen for quite a while with no issues, and cleans easily. I have had it smear after drying though, which is sad. (it is rare, but it has happened) I have noticed the slightest bit of nib creep on my FC #2. This pen immediately writes with this ink, and never stutters or skips. I have some of this inked up right now in my Franklin Christoph #2.

The color does look like blued steel. I am wondering if the drying time issue is enough to make it impractical for left-handed writers?

I am glad you enjoyed it. It's not my favorite color but it is so dependable that I keep using it.

I had to go back and look. No, it's not impractical. Diamine Deep Dark Blue, however, is way to smudgy.

I was going to finally order this for the M150 I have coming but $11.35 shipping on a $12.50 bottle of ink!? It's purty but it ain't that purty.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Welcome to my inky life. I have a number of bottles of ink simply because I needed to add one or two to an order to amortise the cost of shipping.

Exactly. And now that my previous supplier has stopped even stocking Quink bottled inks, my only source is online - I am certainly glad I stocked up in the past, all sorts of ink, but even Quink...

No plans to go (working); appreciate the offer, though, thanks.

 

I'll just use an ink I already have or ... I might take the opportunity to order something from my 'hmm' list.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
