Noodler's Omaha (Initial Impressions, At Best)

Let me start by prefacing. This is an initial impressions post more than it is a "review," per se. There's another review on here and it's a great one, but since this is a store specific LE, I didn't want people to get stuck watching the paint dry. I placed my order on the "bay of pigs," late Friday night and it must have shipped Saturday because it showed today.

I thought people might like to see wider swaths and a different impression, and I thought my pics captured the ink quite nicely.

I am a green and brown guy, but I don't like a certain kind of brown, if you know what I mean. I go for the interesting, higher shading, more dynamic browns, not that OTHER kind of brown.

I think the packaging is nice and does a good job of capturing the color and the inspiration behind it.
One thing though. This was my first bottle of Noodler's that wasn't a sample and the ink was filled to the very brim! *Note to self, open Noodler's on a flat surface and not in your hands above your desk* Okay then, moving on. Btw, is this a thing with Noodler's?

These swaths were made with a q-tip for a reason. The other review I saw was made with a very thin nib. It was a great review, but I thought people might want to see what this "might" look like in a bigger nib, or q-tip, as it were. (all my pens were inked and like I stated above, I don't know how long this will be around.

On the Rhodia dot pad there was:

NO feathering
NO bleed through
MINIMAL ghosting

This is going to shade very nicely and dried relatively quickly. (these wide swaths were dry in 20)

Now while it didn't conjure images of Monument Valley in John Ford's The Searchers, I did think of open vistas and where this color might show up, if that makes any sense. I like it, I really do.

Now we have the poor man's chromatography paper and you get a good idea of how dynamic this color is and what it might look like.

I promise my next review will have all the bells and whistles and it is my hope this helps someone decide if this ink is right for them.

When I 1st heard abt this ink I had to have it even though I don't usually use Noodler's ink. I wasn't set up on ebay so called my son-in-law in SD & told him to order 2 bottles. Then I drove 530 miles from OMAHA, NE to Rapid City, SD to pick it up. It was also my granddaughter's b-day so it wasn't as dumb of a trip as it sounds.

I seem to be buying a lot of Noodler's for the labels with having no intention of using the ink. Tell me I am not alone.

You are not alone. For me, those labels are the best think about the inks....
