Thanks for this review. Yes, it's the brown in RD which I hate. Never did like that one, although I thought everybody else just loved the $%&§ out of it. Also, a good comparison, especially the top three which are least brown.

Nice review! Diamine Matador is my go-to standard red for mark-up. It's a solid red without orange or pink notes. I haven't tried Sheaffer Skrip Red, but from all accounts these two inks are pretty similar.

I have noticed more showthrough with Diamine Matador than with some other inks, notably on a cheap copy paper.

I ran into the same thing years ago in Chicago, when I saw the Grant Wood painting "American Gothic" which is iconic to the point of endless variety of parodies.

As for Diamine Matador, I bought one of the really small (5 ml) containers of it to try it, but didn't really like the color. I think Diamine Classic Red is a "truer" red, being pretty much smack in the middle of the spectrum: it doesn't lean orange or pink or burgundy.

But thanks for the review nonetheless.

Just filled my steel Lamy Studio EF with this ink. So happy. It's one of those combinations of ink, pen, and nib that just 'works' for me.

A stealth mark-up pen that appears so innocuous. I bet you thought it was filled with Quink Washable Blue...

I just tried a sample of this red, and I like it for a true red. I don't use red very often though. I wish it had a bit of water resistance, that would seal the deal for me. I may get a 30ml bottle of this in the future.

Nice review. It does look a very neutral but saturated true red.

Thank you for this dep red impression. Matador is for me a real read. Although I love Herbin's Rouge hématite - my standard red - which is lighter and more sensitive, Matador is strong and direct.

Thank you for this review.

The images were especially helpful.

Today I noticed this ink in a post by RoyalBlueNotebooks.

Your review brings out its positive qualities.

Much appreciated.
