Removing Ink From Carpet

There are 3 or 4 dots of ink in our carpet. One of the inks is Noodler's Red, the other is either Noodler's Blue or Squeteague; in neither case are they Warden's Series.

I'd like to get the ink out of the carpet but my concern is that when a cleaner is applied, it may dissolve the ink, no doubt, but then you have a dilute ink solution which spreads and you have a large, although less saturated, spot of ink!

I'm more than sure others have dealt with this issue..I'd be grateful for any tips on how to solve it.

Thank you.

Having been in this same situation before...and with the same concern about enlarging the ink spot with a cleaning solution, I did the following.

I took a small manicure scissors and snipped off the ink drops. Of course, this depends on the nap of the carpeting and the size of the ink drops. Mine were pinhead size inkdrops on a longish nap carpet. I trimmed the inkdrops as shallowly as possible. No more stain...invisible defect to naked eye.

Good luck.

Try Amodex (got mine at nibs.com, no affiliation). In my experience, very effective, though I do not know how it would work on saturated Noodler's inks.

It may also depend on if your carpet is specially treated to resist stains. I had one of my nieces spill about 2 ml of Diamine Grape on my carpet and was able to remove it with a diluted solution of Hydrogen Peroxide, the type you get as a color safe bleach alternative. I cleaned it within a few seconds of happening and it completely absorbed into the paper towel. I was pretty surprised it worked that well, so I assume it had a stain resist treatment applied to it.

FP Ink Orphanage-Is an ink not working with your pens, not the color you're looking for, is never to see the light of day again?!! If this is you, and the ink is in fine condition otherwise, don't dump it down the sink, or throw it into the trash, send it to me (payment can be negotiated), and I will provide it a nice safe home with love, and a decent meal of paper! My brother spilled Noodler's Bulletproof Black on his carpet. Being nylon, he just cleaned up the carpet with paper towels and probably a carpet cleaner. It all came up, no stain. Noodler's Bulletproof inks are formulated to chemically bond with cellulose, not with polymers. They are not pigments but dyes.

If the carpet is cellulose (cotton, linen) you had better get it out before it dries.
