Tom Norton's Walnut Drawing Ink

Saw this ink at a local art store today. I liked the color and wonder if I can use it in a Rotring Artpen.

 

Tom Norton's website says it is not made from walnuts, and is non acidic.

I had a bottle and I would never put it in any fountain pen. It is for the Tom Norton Drawing stick he sells, or a quill, glass pen sponge or brush.

The ink is "heavily pigmented" as is the darkening medium. Definitely made for use in dip pens, brush, etc. Although, if you had a project that you wanted to use a fountain pen on with this ink, well, an inexpensive pen, one that can be easily cleaned, and that you are willing to risk ... maybe, if you cleaned the pen thoroughly after each session.

 

I will admit, Rotring Art Pens do clean up easily and well, so again, maybe. But make sure you have another on hand and do not let the pen sit over long.

The real issue about whether or not it would be FP safe is whether or not it has gum arabic as an ingredient. I'm betting that it might -- in which case absolutely do NOT put it in any fountain pen.
