What's Up With Engeika?

All those I've received have been genuine, as far as I'm aware. However, I haven't bought from them in almost two years.

Thanks. I do hope they are ... I placed an order .. let's see when I get it.

I work for a Japanese company and I know they have a very high ethics ... but that is in general and exceptions always exist... I am hoping what I will receive is a genuine product.

I have purchased a lot of pens from him over a few years. I don't know why he has this funny stock problem with Pilot, but something like it happened once before. Some years ago Pilot would not show up on the regular website, but there was another website where you could see the pens if you were logged in. I have found them completely reliable. If they say a pen will come in 6 months, they will send it when it is ready (usually Sailor.) I don't know if there is some current problem with stock or shipping. I sent him a question about 10 days ago about an order, received a reply, and I can now track that order as it is shipped.

Ive bought a few pens from them before and shipping time can be dodgy but he will give you a heads up with there is an issue for the most part. Most importantly however the products are good and I've never been let down by atnyhing Ive received.

I joined FPN just so i could post this...

This is my first experience dealing with Engeika, I thought with the price offered and the positive reviews I've been seeing, I wouldn't get any issue purchasing a pen or two. So, I bought Sailor 1911 Large from his website at September 9th, 2016 happily thinking to myself at last I could afford a decent pen after wanting for sometime and it would take no time to arrive in my country which is Indonesia. I've had plenty of experience doing business with Japanese folks and needless to say almost none of them required any reminder to any of their task. I waited for about a week in September 16th, 2016 I still haven't got my tracking no, so I email them asking about the status of my purchase, and they answered:

"Hello XXXX,

Thank you so much for your email.
We would like to confirm that the pen just arrived from Sailor for you.
We will prepare the shipment for you right away.
The parcel will be sent to distribution center next week for shipping.

As soon as there is any tracking number, we will tell you right away.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask us anytime.
We look forward to hearing back from you.

If you have any question, please feel free to ask us anytime.
We always try to offer you the best price and service as we can.
Best regards from Japan,
Engeika Team
Taizo Okagaki"

Ofcourse I was back to my happy-mode... As I kept waiting, the scheduled shipping time passed by thinking to myself, "Naaah, no need to email them every small issues along the way, they are most probably so busy right now". So I waited again until it was September 24th, 2016 then I sent them another email that says:

"Hi Engeika & staff,

Just want to remind you that you might forgot to send me the tracking number.
Thank you,
XXXX"
To my surprise, they didn't reply like before... I thought to myself, "Ok, maybe we should wait another day or two.."
And then came September 29th, 2016 I sent another email trying to be polite asking about the status of my pen. Yet again no reply...
I thought to myself, "Maybe they are in a bit of a pinch right now... I should get someone that speaks Japanese to call them!"
On September 30th, 2016 my friend called their number as stated in their email signature, and they didn't answer. Ok I thought, "Probably it's Friday, they probably close their shop early on weekends, let's try again on Monday". And that leads to today, 5 calls with 1 hour interval, no answer... Now, I have to admit, I'm getting a bit restless... I don't know what to do next...

I decided to purchase my Sailor 1911 Standard(I just want the Nib to experiment with other pens) from a seller in Rakuten(hunnyhunt). It was around 11 dollars difference from Engeika's price, but I just couldn't bear the wait and the feeling of being left in the dark.

As per the previous poster, I also made my account to provide my own experiences with Engeika recently.

I ordered an elabo from them (via email correspondence) that was confirmed to be paid for on e 7th of September. I have received no tracking information nor product since then, and was told when I enquired about a week ago that it was on order (despite my confirming via email that it was in stock a the time of my purchase). He then rather condescendingly told me not to panic. I am currently tempted to use the PayPal refund service, and will likely do so if it's not shipping by the 6th.

I sum, be extremely extremely careful with this seller, it seems as if he is failing to provide his paid service at this time.

I'm sorry to have to tell you that hunnyhunt and engeika are the same company.

I have bought a few pens from Engeika over the last couple of years and the level of service has steadily declined (imo) to the point where I really want to buy a Platinum 3776 but am looking elsewhere. Postage has got extremely slow, often times pens arrive before tracking advice is provided. When I first started buying from Engeika I could order on Saturday and the pen would be in my hands by the following Friday in Australia. Oh for those good old days.

It definitely sounds like something happened to this merchant in the last few months. Most people had very positive experiences until recently which suggests this may be a short-ish disruption. Whatever is happening the owner would benefit from improved communication so customers know what's going on. If this started from some type of non-business issue (small firms can shut down during personal emergencies) we don't need details but some statement may help alleviate anger. I hope the vendor can resolve whatever is causing the problems and rebuild trust.

Go to PayPal and open a case.

I don't know how to do that because opening a case require a transaction ID which I didn't get upon checkout without Paypal account. But I did log in through my paypal ID and went to the resolution center to send email to paypal regarding my problem.

I hope everything goes well...

Finally! Managed to call Taizo, after the big news by kenshiro(thank you so much), I snoop around his seller profile in Rakuten... Turns out he had different phone number listed there (TEL: 0978-24-0095 FAX: 0978-24-0588). Today he answered the call and said the goods will be sent today. And he sent me an email reply too.

"Hello XXXX,

Thank you so much for your email.

We are really sorry for the late shipment because it has taken some time to get the pen from Sailor for you.

However we have GOOD news for you today.

Your pen is already in stock now.

We would like to confirm that the parcel is on the way to our distribution center for the shipment.

We will try to finish the shipment as soon as we can within a couple of days.

A tracking number will be sent to your registered email after the shipment is done.

Please track it here: http://www.engeika.com/help#tracking

We always try to offer you the best price and the best service as we can.

Best regards from Japan,

Engeika Finest Shop Team

Taizo Okagaki"

I hope everything will be ok this time.

I paid with credit card transaction... how do I do that?

Talk to your credit card provider. They will (should) sort it out.

The above email still does not sound convincing but just another delay tactic.

That's what I had, and no tracking number was ever given. It took several more less than civil emails to get any kind of response or action. I do hope you will fare better.

I've managed to phone Taizo to sort it all out. He will be sending my goods today.

To all who are still waiting for your delayed shipping, Engeika do have someone that can speak English. So I encourage you to call them up to inquire. TEL: 0978-24-0095 FAX: 0978-24-0588

I certainly hope so, because it was a hassle to ask my old friend to call them up again.

But I think it will be okay since I also ordered a pen through Rakuten where there will be a deadline for shipping. they said they are going to send it together today, and I've just replied the shipping fee confirmation to them.

Yeah, it's funny that when you called, you got that "oh, it's here, we're just about to send it!" response, just like I did when I asked to cancel my order. Seems fishy.

Actually that was for the second pen which I bought through Rakuten just the day before. Ended up accidentally buying the second pen not knowing hunnyhunt in Rakuten is also Engeika.

Your payment definitely has a transaction ID. Go to PayPal > Summary > Purchase from [Engeika, I Assume] and search the page for "Unique Transaction ID."

Beware that you don't get double-charged or double-shipped.

When I bought the pen from Engeika, I didn't log into my Paypal account because the card registered in my Paypal ID doesn't have a big credit limit, so I checked out as a guest using my other card. Transaction ID won't show up in my summary. Paypal did send an email, but there's no Transaction ID, only Receipt number, Invoice ID, and Paypal Email ID.

I looked around the community forum for similar cases and they all required to email/call up Paypal directly to any cases regarding checkout without Paypal account(maximum 45 days after initial purchase).

They already double charged my shipping fee, but that's ok. I just want them to send my pens safely and as soon as possible.
