Not A Shoot-Out, Just A Simple Comparison - Pps Vs Sbbs

Last night, I tried both Parker Penman Sapphire and Sailor Bung-box Sapphire (Hatsukoi) in the same pen (Sailor Classic 1911 Large Naginata Medium Fine).

The paper is Kokuyo Campus unlined refill.

Both are lovely inks, but this has finally decided me to stick with PPS. And it is not going to be wasted on any other pen than the Sailor.

Although they do not look so much alike in my own comparison, the SBBS did not look as washed out in my test.

Why use PPS only in your Sailor pen? I have some lovely Sailor pens but have prefered using PPS in my Parker pens. Just curious.

SBBS is a strange ink. In some pens it looks identical to PPS, and in my Sailor NMF it looks quite different.

And my Sailor NMF nib is quite persnickety about the inks it likes. The SBBS is the first Sailor ink it has behaved with, but as you can see, it makes it look quite light. However, it is the only pen I have that shows off the PPS as well as it does. Any other pen I have tried tends to make the PPS look only just a bit above the ordinary. The Sailor NMF makes it look magic.

And that my dear David, is the magic of pens.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).
