Asa Nauka Bakul Black

A long time ago I subscribed for the second batch of the ASA Nauka group buy. On the first group I had ordered a beautiful brown/green one. Regretably I didn't order the brown/blue one, also, ergo my decision of joining the secong group buy, to ,be able to have one.

I received my pen, but unfortunatly the ebonite had some very visible and uneasthetic white marks on the body. I contacted Mr subramaniam when I saw it, and sent him a photo of the problem. He informed me that, unfortunately, the second batch, contrary to the first one, of this ebonite colour presented some trouble, and that if he made another one he could not garanty its flawless look. He offered me to chose another colour for him to make another cap and body (I had the nib from the other pen). I decided on a black bakul.

I received the replacement pen after a moment. I had in mind a very specific clip I wanted to increase the beauty of this pen. It took me several months to find it.

The bakul is of great beauty, the touch of the utmost smoothness. The pen is beautiful, and wonderfuly made.

The threading, since the first Nauka I bought, has improved, and the closing of the pen is extremely easy.

I find this pen to be of great elegance, and realy love its look.

Thank youn Mr Subramaniam for your kindness, and honesty.

Beautiful pen, @fountainpagan! And thanks for reminding us: indeed the threading of the new Nauka is significantly better, much easier to find and engage the cap. I noticed it in my Transnauka as well.

And I must say the dragonfly clip/rollstopper makes this pen a stunning and unique piece of art. Enjoy!

Well the matte /bakul is amazing....I ordered one and it has wonderful built quality . Bad luck is I wanted to try a stub for first time and ordered a 1.1 jowo which I have found extremely tough for my writing style and grip.

You can get a spare jowo nib unit of preferred nib width and change it yourself as it's just screw in nib unit.

The Jowo nib units on these pens are screwed in quite tightly and are difficult to remove. I have both a Patriot and a Nauka, and I could not budge the nib units without applying more torque than I thought the nib and feed could take without damage. It might be safer to get just a Jowo nib, pull the existing nib and feed straight out without twisting, and reset the feed with a new nib.

Someone with the right skill could also grind the 1.1 to a narrower stub, even an oblique.

I also own the black Nauka in Bakul finish which esthetically speaking is one of my most beautyful fps. But the stock nib wasn't really usable. But as it's friction fit I replaced it using a JinHao 450 nib. Now it's not only the best looking but also my best writing indian fp!

Yeah... But I would likes to practice with it when I have time. If i get used to it with time then great.. I have read many posters being strong stub lovers and i don't want to give up without an effort

Thank you Fountainpenpagan for this excellent review of Nauka.

I am sure its going to helpful for all.

I liked the DragonFly rollstopper, made out of a pendant. Thats very creative and unique. Its the crest of the beauty.

This is indeed a high quality pen, the owner should be congratulated for this. And of course, he should also proactively take suggestions for improvements from fountain pen members as there are bound to be instances where there could be slip ups.
