o be honest I don’t know much about the company. Some time ago Algester posted topic about Tag Kyoto branch inks. The bottles and colors presented on their site looked nice so I’ve decided to try some of these inks. The inks are made by or for Takeda Jimuki company and are available in two lines: Kyo No Oto and Kyo-Iro. Kyo no Oto inks are said to be traditional japanese colors that has been used since heian era (roughly 1000 years ago),and expressing a tinges that have been nurtured in long history and profound culture for long time.

Kyonooto inks are:

  1. Aonibi
  2. Imayouiro
  3. Kokeiro
  4. Nurebairo
  5. Yamabukiiro

Kyo-iro inks are:

  1. Cherry Blossom of Keage
  2. Flaming Red of Fushimi
  3. Moonlight of Higashiyama
  4. Soft Snow of Ohara
  5. Stone Road of Gion

The ink comes in nice, practical bottle

Soft Snow of Ohara has cool name and rather subtle grayish-blue-purplish color. I like this ink but I'm not crazy about it. It behaves well on variety of papers and won't cause any unpleasant surprise to your pens.

This is a very pretty ink. I use it a lot. It looks beautiful on cotton rag paper. Thanks for reviewing it.

@guys - if anyone of you have following inks from both lines

  1. Imayouiro
  2. Cherry Blossom of Keage
  3. Flaming Red of Fushimi
  4. Moonlight of Higashiyama

and would consider trading samples with me (exchange / sale), let me know. I would like to review them all.

@mehandiratta - I've corrected it. I still struggle with finding best way to store pictures. Imageshack is not reliable. FOuntain pen network storage is really good but I need more space for pictures not related to FP and inks. I still try new things and sometimes the results aren't perfect ;)

I was a bit disappointed with this ink at first, but then I'm not quite sure what I was expecting. It has certainly grown on me and I now do like it. The ink has a nice subtly to it that gives it a great deal of flexibility.

As to other Kyo-Iro inks, only got Stone Road of Gion.

I have Imayouiro and Higashiyama but they're at home in the UK and I won't be back there until early September. I'd be happy to send you samples of them then if you don't get any before that time.

Thanks for the review.

It's a pretty color, but it's clear that it does better in a broader nib and on really white paper to really be legible. Not sure whether I'd want a bottle of it or not.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

So far, my favorites have been Aonibi and Stone Roads of Gion. Thanks so much for reviewing these inks, Vis.
