Jinhao 601 F Nib?

FromTheNetherlands

Recommended Posts

Hello!

Some time ago I bought a Jinhao 601 fountain pen.

Although it writes really smooth, very wet, etcetera, the nib is wide for my liking.

Does anyone know if this nib can be replaced? It seems like it is the same nib as in the Jinhao 250 fountain pen.

Thanks in advance!

Gert-Jan

You just have been 'unlucky'. I have a 601 with a smooth fine nib.

You can buy another cheap jinhao with a # 5 nib and hope it will be a fine. You can buy a few # 5 Jinhao nibs and hope there will be a fine one included or you can buy a nice jowo fine nib.

And yes, the nib can be taken out and replaced.

Fixed it, put my Jinhao 599 F-nib in the Jinhao 601.

Luckily, the 599 F-nib was smooth as smooth can be, PERFECT writer now the Jinhao 601 :)

Thanks for the advice!

Hi All,

This is my first post here so 'hello'.

I recently took delivery of a shiny new Jinhao 601 from EBay.

My reference points -

Lamy Safari (F)

Jinhao X750 with Bock nib (F size 6)

Jinhao 159 (M factory nib - Required smoothing).

My observations on the 601 - Your mileage may vary:

Beautiful body - Tasteful without being over the top.

A little dearer than the typical X450, X750 and 159, though cheaper than premium models that may be produced in lower numbers.

Curiously mine has a hole at the bottom of the pen - This is a great pity.

Nice, non-slip section.

Posts with ease.

Again curiously - My pen appears to be threaded to take a cap that screws on; yet there is no thread on the cap itself. That said, the pen closes securely, but time only time will tell how easily this pen dries out.

This is easily the worse writing out of the box (padded bag) pen that I've used. The nib on mine was truly horrible and required considerable work to write anything like acceptably.

Included the Jinhao metal converter - I was initially pleased to get to try this but as the filling mechanism feels rough and the capacity quite low I changed to a Faber Castell - This works well and fits perfectly.

I may well end up trying a Bock size 5 nib for use with this body.

Greetings to all and thanks for your discussions and content.

Kind regards,

Spring.

Welcome to the forums!

I have not had any of the problems you described, been writing quite a lot with the pen, no problems with anything. It actually is the best 'out-of-the-box' writer I have.

I agree with you on the converter though, coming Monday I will order a new one :)

You can buy a Jinhao 599 for around 1-2 dollars on eBay. It is quite easy to get the nib out :)

I'm glad that your experiences have been positive.

I have read about the degree of variability in Chinese pens.

My 601 really does deserve a new nib so I have no plans to give up on it any time soon ;-)
