Linda Kennedy, The Nibmeister!

Hello friends,

I am here to bear testimony to my excellent experience with Linda Kennedy, and how wonderful of a nibmeister she is. A while back I wrote to Richard Binder and he told me:

the Triangle Pen Show will be in Cary at the beginning of June. I will be there, and so will Linda Kennedy of Indy-Pen-Dance in cases my dance card fills up before you arrive. I trained Linda, and I can vouch for her skills and customer service.

I followed his advice. I took my Lamy 2000 there and now I am more satisfied with it than any other time before since I bought the pen. I can get more use of it and really make it my daily writing pen, all thanks to Linda Kennedy. She was so humble in the amount of money she charged. I expected to pay fifty dollars or more. She took only 20 dollars from me. She was so kind and willing to listen and help get the pen I have dreamed of having: smooth and a joy to write with.
By all means use her services and tell others about her. I admire her a lot. She is professional, perfect in everything she does.

I share the humanity of people, I’m like the rest of everybody and certainly I’m not better or higher than anybody in anything, regardless of what they believe in or don’t believe in. What they experience is certainly not alien to me. I’m part of all people and they are part of me, interbeing, that is.

I'll second Linda's awesomeness!

I had her regrind a MB 146 fine (wrote like a medium) into a .56mm crisp italic at the Baltimore Pen Show earlier this year. Writes like a dream with nice line variation. My favorite pen to use!

She must have spent 20-30 minutes on it as she had me write to see how I held the pen and explained what she was doing as she went. Real personalized service. Only charged $40. A bargain.

+1 on that.

One of the things I had gone to Triangle Pen Show for was to get a replacement nib on my replacement Café Crème, which came with a firehose of an IM nib on it. I wanted to get a B nib like on my old one. I checked at several tables, then gave up and went to see if she could do *anything* to make it be less of a gusher (and I had iron gall ink in the pen -- and it still bled through onto the next sheet in a Miquelrius journal :o which usually has pretty good FP-friendly paper). I had showed it to Deb Kinney, who took a look and then basically shook her head.

So I had completely given up on getting an M200 B nib at the show at that point, and told this to Linda. And she said "Well, you didn't talk to ME!" and proceeded to pull out a B nib, work on it, put it on a different pen for me to try (I didn't want to dump the rest of the fill because it was FPN member Pharmacist's Turkish Night and I only have 1 small bottle of it...), and also did a bit on the IM nib to make it not quite as wet. And then gave me a discounted price on the B nib and the tweaking of both it and the IM.

I had been hanging out at the Indy-Pen-Dance table on Friday afternoon as well, since Mike Kennedy was replacing the diaphragm and doing general cleanup on the Green Shadow Wave Vac I'd just bought at the show.

No affiliation other than as a happy customer, BTW.

Great story, Ruth. Now I know the details of what you were waiting for at the Indy-Pen-Dance table.

I don't remember if that was Friday or Saturday when we met. Friday was the work on the Shadow Wave. Saturday was the nib work and replacement nib. Fortunately *before* the power went out....

At one point before the power came back on Saturday afternoon, Mike Kennedy was wandering around in the hallway near the Toys in the Attic tables and someone said "Sort of feels like a vacation, huh?" And he made cranky noises....

I have used Linda on the recommendation of Richard Binder as he was not taking any services at the time....I can concur she does great work and fixed my Visconti Homo Sapiens.

I make it a point to visit Linda and Mike at the Chicago Pen Show every year now. I typically find that they have one or another new pen that I like, and Linda does just a spot-on perfect job of "Binderizing" the nibs for me. She somehow gets mine just as Richard did on all the pens I purchased from him. I believe that he trained her well.

I find Linda and Mike to be just genuinely great folks to talk with and buy from. (The usual disclaimers apply - just a really happy customer.)
