Kyonooto Aonibi

Recommended Posts

One of the 5 Kyonooto inks. I shall leave the presentation of these inks to someone else.
Aonibi is a greyish blue (blue-black?).

Box

Nice packaging.

Splash

(photo, scan. I think the scan comes out wrong. It's more like in the photo.)

Sample

It should not be so purple. It should look somewhat bluer/greener.

Comparison

Only for comparison. I think they all look too purple in the scan.

Sheen?

You may be able to see a faint sheen in writing. In this photo the colour is more or less correct.

Thanks. I like it.

Is that *silver* sheen I'm seeing? You are such a bad influence -- first that magenta one, and now this?

WAAAANT! Must HAAAAAAAAVE!!!

Thanks for the review though. And, well, not.... :headsmack:

When you write you get more of a very faint burgundy halo around the wettest parts.

Pensei, there are only a few sources, as far as I know.

I got my bottle by ordering through Rakuten (search for kyo-iro or kyo no oto), but Sakura Fountain Pen Gallery (located in Belgium but with an online presence) also carries this line.

I read in another thread that the store is out of stock now, but they are restocking in mid-June.

yes... they will be restocking in Mid June...

There will be probably new bright blue color also...

Is it a secret where one finds such ink?

You can email the shop directly as well. Their written English is pretty good.

Thanks!

Edit: we won't mention that just this morning I was doing some scribbling to convince myself that Shin-kai, Salix, Callifolio Bosphore, Kobe 7, KWZ IG Blue 3, F-C Midnight Blue, and BB4B are different enough that it's not quite madness to have them all. Aonibi has a cool box!

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
