Kyonooto Imayouiro

Recommended Posts

One of the 5 Kyonooto inks. I shall leave the presentation of these inks to someone else.
Imayouiro is a bright pink/magenta. I love such retina searing inks like Amberlea.

Box

Nice packaging. The colour on this box is closer to what it really is than the other colours.

Sample

It flows well. But it seems to be somewhat drier than Kokeiro or Yamabukiiro.

Sheen?

A faint sheen in a swab on Tomoe River. Not visible in writing at all.

Love that shading!

There are 10 inks in total I think? My favourite is definitely the black (No. 1).

I have this one & agree it's a little drier than I like, but it shades beautifully.

Yeah, apart from the inaccuracy in colours the labels are pretty cool.

I noticed that but didn't want to spoil the vibe . . .

Shame though, that blue on the label is yummy.

We can make one ourselves!

I know but I really like the lettering too.

There are 5 Kyo-iro and 5 Kyonooto. They seem to come from the same brand.

Yes they are. More about them in this post https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/308664-about-kyo-iro-inks/?p=3630714

I was privileged to trial some of the inks last year; I'm pleased they didn't change them other than replace the original metal caps, which had a tendency to leak in transport. I really like the inks' vintage look. A d I agree with Tas - the box designs are very distinctive; under-stated & classy.

This seems very similar to the OS Lewis Carroll Queens Rose. That's a compliment. Normoally not my color range, but definitely one I'd want.

It seems really similar to Iroshihzuku Tsutsuji in the image of the swabs. Would it be possible to see a side-by side written example? Because I have this awful feeling that this is going to be one of those inks that come from the land of Unobtanium....

  • 3 weeks later...

how is lubrication on these inks compared to sailor ones

In terms of lubrication, these inks would feel more like Herbin and less like sailor. i.e. not much for lubrication, but most can be classified as wet inks.

I agree with the comparison to J Herbin. The one Kyo-iro ink I have is Soft Snow of Ohara, and I'd call it a wet but not especially lubricating ink.

This ink just arrived in yesterday's post! Can't wait to try it. I'm usually a blue ink person, but this one has me intrigued.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
