Silicone Grease Recommendations?

Earlier in this 4 year old thread I mentioned Dow-Corning Molykote 111. I've been using it in the pens that I repair for about a decade now. It resists washing off in your ink, excellent for piston seals, plunger rods and other pen related applications. The application data says that it is designed to resist washing off, which is a problem with thinner silicone greases and silicone oil. Some time ago I decided to make it available, so I keep it in stock. You'll find it on our "stuff" page. A little goes a very long way.

This is such great stuff.

And, a 5.3 oz tube is available on Amazon for less than $11. An amount which will be "lifetime supply" for most of us.

(Not a complicated matter worthy of all this conversation.)

if I were you I would make a second attempt with scuba diving shops and associations

for scuba divers it is really important as a matter of safety to use high quality 100% silicone grease for the scuba equipment valves

I'm sure some of them would know where to get the good stuff...

Thank You. I did contact them. They told me that they would let me know. They never came back. When I followed up they said that they will let me know. Probably it was not something noticeable worth pursuing for them.

In any case, I got a German 100% Silicon Grease 100ml tube from a car parts dealer who works with Audi, Mercedes and BMW. The grease is purported to be food grade (non reactive) and strongly recommended for plastic, leather and rubber. So I guess at a price of USD 7.5 I got a lifetime supply!
