Pelikan M150/m200 Nib Question

I have a question. Would the the Pelikan M150 (old style) or M200 take the gold nib of pelikan 400/400NN?

I have a spare 400 gold nib and have the chance to buy either the M150 or the M200. And, hence, the question.

Thanks.

The nib will fit an M200. It may also fit the M150, depending on the length of the nib.

The 400 nib will fit the M200 for sure. The fit with the M150 is not as certain and depends a lot on how the nib is set on the feed. My rule is to avoid M2xx/M4xx nibs in M100 or M150 pens but others have reported some success. Clearance when capped is the biggest issue and I've seen first hand the issue when an M2xx nib was placed in an M150 Bols demonstrator. I'd go with an M200, personally, in the scenario you lay out.

A little tough to say for sure from the picture but I suspect that may be an M481. The M481 was the predecessor to the M200 and is the same size with a little variation in trim. The old style M200 would have had two cap bands but this pic has one, like the M481 would. Is there a logo on the cap top or is it smooth? That would be a dead giveaway. The M150 would look very similar except the cap ring would have a beveled appearance and the one in that pic looks straight though it is tough to tell for sure.

1) Is there a logo on the cap top?

2) Is the cap band straight or beveled?

There is no logo on the cap top. Not sure about the cap band as to whether it is straight or beveled. Would have to ask the seller for more pictures to be sure about the shape of the cap band.

It is a piston filler. The cap band looks to be straight. The seller has provided another picture now. Looks to be a frankenpen to me.

If there is no logo on the cap top, green ink window, single straight cap band, and gold plated stainless steel nib...you have a black M481. Same sized nib as an M200.

Thank you, sargetalon. Bought the pen for $30. I hope it would take the vintage 400NN BB nib that I have in my pen spares.

  • 3 weeks later...

Here is the black M481 that I equipped with a vintage 400NN nib unit:

The pen is brand new but since the seller declined to provide me with the box (he said he has another 481, in his personal use, for which he wants to retain the box/case), he further reduced the price to $25.
