Uneven Size Of Tines

Ziu

Recommended Posts

Hi,

First let me apologize my bad English.

Today I bought Kaweco sport classic fountain pen with F nib - this is my first Kaweco pen - and I found out that one tine is bigger than another; the slit is un-centered, and the difference of width of two tines is noticeable even with bare eyes.

Will it be a problem? Should I exchange it?

here are some pictures of the nib:

Please help. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and considerations.

Best regards,

Ziu

It shouldn't be a problem unless the difference is much more extreme than in your case. This happens sometimes, particularly on vintage pens, but also on new ones. If it bothers you for aesthetic reasons, you can always ask to have the nib exchanged. But the pen should write well and be reliable as it is.

Ideally, the tip of each nib should be of equal size, but that doesn't always happen. If the pen writes well, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thank you all for your advise.

I found that the pen skips in every two to three strokes, but I wasn't sure whether it is because of the uneven size of tip. Anyway skipping IS a problem irrespective of the size of tines, so I send the pen back to Kaweco and today I received my pen with new, flawless nib.

Again thank you for your advise.

Best regards,

Ziu
