Delta Nib Swap - Nib Feed Removal

Recommended Posts

Just to jump in here, the 14K F nib on my Delta DV was quite misaligned when I got it, but for various reasons I never managed to do anything about it. It wrote with a very broad line, and was very scratchy.

On the weekend, with fear a trepidation - yes, both! - I pulled the nib and it came out easily.

Here's the thing: When the nib isn't on the feed, the tines align perfectly, but when I try to reinsert it, or even just push it against the feed, it goes out of alignment.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the fault of the feed itself. I've replaced the nib with a Goulet EF nib and find that it is aligned perfectly. Unfortunately, the ink gushes through, so I get a very broad line (but at least it writes smoothly).

Any ideas on how to get my stock nib to work without sending it away?

Sorry, can't help you with that, but could you tell me which Goulet nib size did you use? 6 or 5?

Thanks!

I have swapped nibs among several Dolcevita Stantuffo pens, one with a fusion nib the others the 18k and all appear to be threaded and come out by unscrewing. I just went back and checked the Federico with fusion nib( that was originally in one of the regular Stantuffo models. It would not come out by pulling, but by simply unscrewing, When reseating it would not push in but by turning for a right hand thread with no pressure to insert into the section it was drawn in and seated.

Regards

#6. Nothing against Goulet nibs, but it just doesn't look right in a Delta.

That's weird. I have three "Federicos" and a Gallery/Journal (older style), and all three only pull out. In fact, it would be impossible/destructive to twist in any way, since the feeds fit into a half-circle cut-out and can only go straight into the section, and only in one position. Are we talking about the same pens?
