Schmidt Easyflow 9000 (Parker Ball Point Compatible Refill)

I ended up with some Parker ball point pens that I didn't have any refills for.

Did the usual interweb research for a few minutes and noticed somewhat of a trend in that the easyFLOW 9000 seemed to consistently get favorable comments.

Found what seemed like a great deal for six of them for $7 shipped on Amazon and they arrived this past weekend.

I popped one into a Parker Classic and another one into a Parker Flighter Jotter from the 90's and tried them out for a bit.

Mini-review conclusion:

REALLY like them. One of the downsides that I've felt with BP pens is that the refills feels a bit dry and scritchy and, well, a bit boring to actually write with - but these Schmidt ones made these Parker BP pens feel as if I was writing with a roller ball pen! Super smooth and the ink flowed beautifully.

Not sure what kind of magic Schmidt worked into these pens but for seven bucks for six of them I'll be back for more.

Schmidt makes at least 2 Parker G2-type refills: the P900 and the EF9000

 

The EF9000 is described as a rollerball refill for ballpoints.

 

Price (in my B&M shop) is the same.

 

 

Schmidt does make a refill for the Fisher too, the Megaline 4876. But I'm not sure if it has the Easyflow characteristics.

That's interesting as that is exactly how the easyFLOW 9000 felt. It was as if I had just converted by ballpoint to a rollerball

Yeah, these are my favorite refill in blue. They really put ink on the paper which is where it should be/go. The line is smooth with few if any white gaps (fisher refills do that).

 

The Parker Jotter plus one of these refills is really the fastest writing combination. Much better than even the Parker Quinkflow refills; those feel a bit scratchy and their blue one never quite equaled these.

I'm surprised at the responses here. I recently bought a pack of the Easyflow 9000's (medium) for my ballpoint that takes a Parker refill and was very disappointed. I found the writing to be a lot less smooth than a good rollerball refill (I find the Schmidt 5888 rollerball refill to be excellent). Plus it looks like there's a blank streak in the writing where the ball does not full touch the page.

 

Did I find it better than a standard ballpoint? Yes. But it is not nearly as smooth as my Parker 0.7 Gel refills.

I agree with you on that. It's certainly a drawback for the Parker Gel. Short lifespan is another but I long ago decided I would pay just about anything for a pleasant writing experience.
