Noodler's Berning Red

TIL this existed. The backstory and label was just too much fun to resist. Took a little bit of digging, but I found it available at PenBotique. Had to get some. :D

Unobtainium obtained! It took a second attempt because Pen Boutique was sold out after they took my order (they were prompt in cancelling the order and refunding after finding my second choice of Nikita was also sold out.) Finally found a bottle confirmed at iPenstore.

Loaded up my Esterbrook SJ with the 9556 Firm Fine nib and took it for a spin...

No issues to report on Rhodia or Miquelrius. No ghosting, feathering, or bleed through on either. Dries in about 15 seconds.

On Office Depot copy paper (20lb red label), it's a different story. No legibility problems, but ghosting, feathering, and bleed-through are significantly greater than either the Sheaffer Skrip blue-black (tested with Esterbrook J and 9550 Firm Extra Fine), or the Parker Quink Black (Esterbrook J with 9128 Flex Extra Fine). I had to go to full flex mode on the 9128 to get the levels of ghosting or bleed-through I was getting with the Berning Red at normal writing pressure or speed.

That said, in a non-work environment on my personal supply of paper, those are non issues. I now have the cachet of owning a hard-to find ink, and paired with the Little Red Notebook I bought to go with it (a Poppy Red Rhodiarama), I can tweak my friends of a more Libertarian persuasion. :D

If I had not read Noodler's lengthy out of the box and truly horrid discourse on everyone from the left I might think it a joke. And btw, while a lefty, had this man written such an insane speech about someone from the right I would also have stopped even considering supporting him with my $$. I've had enough of his hatred -- everyone's hatred -- and division in this country. So it is not joke... He hated Bernie Sanders. He has the right to his writings on his website, and I wouldn't have a product of his in my office -- and thankfully, I don't think much of his inks so it is no loss.

Who are you talking about here? The owner of Noodlers ink? And what hatred are you talking about?

I happen to love many of the Noodlers inks. There are some very unique colors that Noodlers makes.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
