Lucky 659 (Wing Sung 659)

My understanding (based on this blog: https://frankunderwater.com/2017/09/14/the-new-wing-sungs-explained/) is that you can't really refer to "Wing Sung" as if it's a single company. Apparently what Hero has done is license the Wing Sung brand to a number of different manufacturers. Likely the 659 and 3001 are from two different licensees.

I have heard various versions, even from people in China! In one, Green Stationary is the owner of Hero, and hence the Wing Sung brand, which they use for pens made by various pen companies that they own. In all versions, though, the pens made in the past 25 years carrying the Wing Sung brand have nothing in common with the earlier pens except for spelling. The old ones at least had a personality. I am delighted whenever I can find an old WS with the "claw" nib, while avoiding the models with imitation Sheaffer Triumph nibs. Some of the newer models are nice as well though I wonder how long they will last. Long ago I bought a carton of ten or so WS 333 pens for $11-12. They are plastic and look like toys made for children, but every one worked perfectly and continue to do so today with no problems. My recent WingS 3001 pens have a finer yet smoother nib but already the trim is wearing off.
