I couldn't find any reviews for this ink. It isn't new. so what's going on? It looks like a blue based black but I would like information as to flow and water resistance.

Thanks

Stipula (Calamo) Ebony Black (Nero ebono) has a half a hint of blue and possibly a quarter of a hint of brown (if you work on it enough). A nice black, IMO, reminiscent of ebony itself.

With an Herbin glass dip pen on Rhodia 90 g/m2 paper, it looks like this (in a dry state, har, har): This scan (on my screen) looks just like the ink on the paper itself.

It has a very good flow, dried in 12-15 seconds, but is totally water-unresistant as you can see here; the paper above was soaked in water for exactly 60 seconds:

IMO a "nice" black (in that it it not a 100% blackest black) but as regards water resistance, nothing useful. Possibly of interest, it bleeds very little or not at all.

Thanks! Very helpful. I like the way it looks on your scan, though here in the US it is expensive. I think I'll give it a try.

Thanks lapis.

I've often thought about trying this ink as I like the colours that wash away and the one that's left behind.

On the list it goes.

I'm not trying to butt in but based on price per ml, it isn't all that expensive (again, here, in Germany, for an ink out of Italy including our 19% sales tax); I see a list price of about 14.00 Euros. Coming in a 70-ml bottle, that makes about 0.20 Euros/ml. To see how much of a bargain that might be, here's a recent list (again for Germany):

Hieronymus 48.20 50 ml 0.96

Lapis,

I completely missed the size of the bottle when I was looking at different websites. It certainly does bring the price per ml down. Still on the high side but not as much.
