Pilot 100Th Anniversary

I realize that the anniversary is still 2 years off but I was curious to see if anyone else has started thinking about it.

Any ideas what they might release?

Personally, I think it'll be like the 95th where two FPs come out. A more expensive model and a less expensive one. Though what those models will be, I can't hazard a guess.

I do want them to release a 100th Anniversary G2, that ubiquitous symbol of Pilot. That'd be fun.

It would be interesting if they re-released another old model like they did with the Justus 95, but I think it's about time they release something entirely new.

Either way, I'm excited to see what they'll come up with.

I'm hoping for another Myu / Murex style pen. I didn't realise the M90 was limited edition before it was too late...

I did get the Elite 95s though - it's my favourite pen.

I suspect they'll bring out some form of Urushi over ebonite since that combination was so important for the company when it was still fairly young.

I'm glad you're thinking about this and posted about it. I'm going to start a "Pilot 100 anniversary pen" fund so I'm ready when it happens.

Thanks for posting.

I like both the G-2 and M90 ideas.

I almost definitely expect a super fancy VP, even though I am not a huge fan of those.

I hope they don't go with a fancy VP, we've seen plenty of those already.

I agree with the VP thoughts. They release Limited Editions so often that they're kind of par for the course now. Releasing one for the 100th Anniversary would just be underwhelming.

Re-releasing the MYU line would be awesome. Black pin-striped MYU100, Custom 100, Custom Heritage 100, G2-100. But I think it's probably not going to happen just because it came out for the 90th.

I'm also saving up for it now.

As long as it's either a new model fountain pen or a reboot of an older model, I'm interested. Not so sure how I'd feel if it just a "Limited Edition" Custom 74 or Custom 845.

Thinking about it, I would actually like to see a luxury (aka non-plastic-childish-looking-student-grade) mechanical pencil. They used to offer some pretty interesting pieces back in the day.

Not sure if this qualifies for luxury, but Pilot do make Custom 74, 91, Maple mechanical pencils.

They still do, although it seems you need to order from Japan to get many (or most) of them. Examples include Timeline, the Customs listed in the post above, grance, fumi raku, capless, legno, lucina, automac, clutch point and my personal favourite, S20.

Custom 100?

Custom Heritage 100?

That would be fun, too...

I like the idea of a Custom Heritage 100. Or a Custom 845 100th Anniversary Edition in a special color such as navy blue or brown or with the availability of more nibs.

I hope someone at Pilot is watching this forum.

Hello Mr. John Lane in Washington.

Pilot previously released a navy blue version of the Custom 845, I believe it was at a pen show in japan. There is also a green urushi variant that was released under similar circumstances. Though it would be cool if they re-released them. I have a Custom 845 (black) fine nib and I really want a navy blue Custom 845 with a medium nib.

Wow. Thanks for this post and links. That blue 845 is really fine. Hope someone's listening.

That navy urushi - gold - black combo is sublime.

Ps, please don't make it a black and orange pen.

For their 100th anniversary, I would love to see a no 20 size Urushi-o-Ebonite ED pen released. A small ED is sorely missing from their current lineup. This one can be flat topped as compared to the cigar shape of the present no 20 urushi which is a C/C pen ("Yukari Royale" in the us market).

In case you wish to write to me, pls use ONLY email by clicking here. I do not check PMs. Thank you.

I keep coming back to this topic. Pilot is my favourite brand and I am excited to see what they will offer.

It should be something really big for their 100 years. And perhaps it should be a whole series of products; not just a LE pen.

I wish for a (preferably metal bodied) piston filler, although I know it´s not going to happen.

Oh, and a new Iroshizuku ink would be great.

Since the progression seems to be: Custom 74, Custom 742, Custom 743

I'm hoping it will be the same with the Custom Heritage line.

Custom Heritage 91, Custom Heritage 912, Custom Heritage 913?

No. The first two digits are for the number of years since Pilot was founded, the third is the price in tens of 10000s of yen (omitted if it would be a 1)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
